Our Riverview Rockets learn about Respect and Leadership. They learned the importance of being positive leaders and showing respect in all settings and throughout the year. During the Week of Respect , Mrs. Sardanopoli  visited each classroom to read the book The Best Part of Me. Following the read aloud and discussion, Mr. McCabe did a follow-up lesson, where students are asked to think of a characteristic of themselves that they feel makes them special. As a culminating celebration of how we are all different, our students a completed a visual journaling activity. A picture path around the school will display students' work and showcase their pride in themselves and their unique qualities.

Riverview invited the bus drivers as our special guests for a bus morning meeting during which we discussed ways to show RESPECT on the bus and ensure that the ride on the bus is safe and positive. We are so grateful for our bus drivers and enjoyed having them participate in our morning meetings.

Riverview Rockets learned about Leadership through the Apex Fun Run.  The mini-lessons concentrated on the acronym STRONG (Selfless, Trustworthy, Refuel, Overcome, Next Level, Grateful). The students enjoyed the Apex Fun Run which raised $15,800 for our school! Thank you for all the pledges! We are extremely grateful for the contributions and are excited to be purchasing the BEAM interactive projector for the Gym, a bubble tube and materials for the sensory room as well as provide teachers with more funds for the mini-grants to enhance their classrooms. Thank you to the PTA for organizing this amazing event!

The Ice Cream Social was wonderful! Thank you to all the staff, parents and volunteers that were involved in making this a special event for all.

Last week, Mrs. Theodoropoulos, Mrs. Schell and Mr. McCabe presented on our school wide service learning project at the National Forum on Character in Washington D.C.  It was an amazing honor and we are proud to share our commitment to helping others and to character education.
