Friday Folders for Lakeview, Riverview and Valleyview

Valleyview School

Riverview School

Lakeview School

On January 15th, the Valleyview  Science   Olympiad   Team headed to the  Regional  Tournament for a full day of competition in fourteen different events.  Mrs. Kasper and Mrs. Stiles are extremely proud of the nineteen dedicated students who gave their best effort!  Special congratulations to Maya Tajudeen and Andrew Shapiro for earning 5th Place in "Write It, Do It" and also Andrew Joyal and Charles Young for winning 3rd Place in Mystery Architecture.  Both events require participants to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and communicate well under pressure.  Great job!

Over 45 students and staff attending a viewing of the environmental movie "Bag It" on January 23rd, co-sponsored by the Valleyview Green Team and the Denville Green Sustainability Committee.  Students and staff learned more about the role of plastics in degrading our environment and human health, and the importance of cutting down on single-use plastics like disposable cups and and packaging.  In the next few weeks, we'll also build on the message of reducing landfill waste by working the TREX company to collect plastic bags for recycling into durable materials rather than be buried or incinerated.

Valleyview Middle School hosted the Alliance to Save Energy's PowerSave for Schools Meeting this past Thursday.  Teachers from Morris County Schools, including Riverview and Lakeview Elementary Schools, shared ideas for improving resource conservation within our schools and community.  The PowerSave Program strives to involve students in collecting data related to energy usage and developing plans to reduce waste and save money.  Look for updates in future Friday Folders, or contact  [email protected] for more information.
