Last week we celebrated a wonderful week of RESPECT with our fifth grade students taking the lead in teaching our students about RESPECT through a newscast, song, poetry and more! The fifth grade student lead assembly helped remind all of our Riverview Rockets to show RESPECT all year long. Congratulations to Maya P, who won our very first bookmark contest. All Riverview students received this RESPECT bookmark to use as a daily reminder to show RESPECT in all that we do. To aid in the celebration and show off our Riverview Pride, our PTA purchased t-shirts with our ROCKET logo and National School of Character emblem for all of our students! We want to thank the PTA for this generous gift. The t-shirts help to remind us what it means to be a Riverview Rocket; our students wore them with pride! We had our first student of the month lunch of the year congratulations, Rockets! We look forward to spending this special time with students that exhibit ROCKET behavior throughout the course of this year. The students have been enjoying Workout Wednesdays at Riverview. Each week, students come together as a grade level in the APR to stretch, take part in some movement-based learning with math, and think about setting new and exciting goals for themselves, inside of the classroom and out.
The Ice Cream Social and Book Fair was a blast! It was so special to spend the night "reading under the stars" with so many of our students and their families. We want to thank all that volunteered for this wonderful event. The book fair contributions enabled many of our classroom libraries to be enhanced with wonderful books.
This week we had a guest speaker from the Morris County Sheriff's Department, Ashley Craig who spoke to the 3-5th grades about digital citizenship. This important presentation helped remind our students about demonstrating respect, safety and citizenship online.
During our PTA meeting, Mr. Forte joined us to discuss the spacing concerns and possible lease of Saint Mary's School. It was an informative presentation that enabled great discussion about this new possible endeavor. There will be another presentation on Wednesday, October 23 at 1:00 pm at the Town Hall for anyone interested in learning more about this topic and to share and discuss their ideas or concerns.
Riverview was excited to be featured and ranked #81 in the top 200 New Jersey Schools Best Teachers in 2020.
We want to thank all our parents for their continued support. Reminder our Halloween Parade will be on Halloween at 2:00 pm. Please look in the Friday Folder for more information.
Parent teacher conferences are next week October 23-25. Conference days will be minimum days. We wish everyone a Happy Fall Season!
