Building and Grounds:

On May 21^st, the Session voted to approve a request by Salem For Refugees to suspend rental payments for the Winola House for June, July, and August of 2025. During this period, in which Salem For Refugees did not anticipate any use of the house, they would continue to reimburse the church for utilities so that at the end of the period they could resume using the house.

As background, after the Building and Grounds Committee refurbished the Winola House in the fall of 2022, Salem For Refugees rented the house from Westminster Presbyterian Church for use as a transitional house for new refugees just entering the country and the Salem area. This worked well for both parties for 2023, 2024 and into the spring of 2025. However, in the spring of 2025, refugees stopped coming to Salem and Salem for Refugees lost government funding for supporting refugees. The Session action allows Salem For Refugees to retain access to this valuable asset while waiting to see what changes, if any, to their situation may happen over the course of the next couple of months.

During this time, the Session will be trying to discern plans for the Winola House should Salem For Refugees no longer have a need for transitional housing. The Session members welcome input to this significant discernment process.

Update from your Personnel Committee

Job descriptions and recruitment announcements have been created for three positions for which WPC will be hiring: summer childcare provider during Sunday worship, part-time children’s ministry director, and part-time youth coordinator.

The next step will be establishing one or more hiring teams to recruit and consider candidates.

The SOLO Group will meet for a Potluck on Monday June 23rd at 5:00pm in boulder hall

Join is on Tuesday morning June 24th at 10:30am in Russel Hall. We will watch a DVD called “The Most Reluctantant Convert.” It is the story of author C.S. Lewis’ (The Chronicals of Narnia) Journey from atheism to Christianity.

Floral Designers Needed!

The deacons are currently looking for a couple of people who would be willing to occasionally make bouquets of flowers for memorial receptions in Boulder Hall. If you have experience designing bouquets and would be willing to join our current Floral Designer team, please contact Lori Dalen.

Starting Wednesday, July 2 at 3:30 PM, we’re launching a joyful and inclusive dance class right here at church!

This class is open to all ages and all ability levels. No dance experience needed — just come ready to move in a way that feels good for you. All movement can be done standing or seated, and we’ll keep things light, fun, and adaptable.

There are no limits - only creative ways to make movement accessible for everyone in a welcoming, low-pressure space.

➡️ DO forward it to the church office ASAP so we can investigate.  

💡 A quick double-check protects all of us. When in doubt, call or email us directly—we’re happy to confirm what’s real!
