In the Torah reading Moses retells the stories of the Israelites in the wilderness, and specifically when they worshipped the Golden Calf and Moses smashed the first Tablets of the Commandments and made a second set to present to the Israelites. Included in the end of the portion are the lines that we call the 2nd paragraph of the Shema, which begin V'hayah Im Shamo'a- what will happen if you follow God's commands, and what will happen if you don't. Let's just say we're much better off if we follow them.

The entire community is welcome! Runners, walkers and families for a day of fitness, fun and friendly competition. Participants can take part in the 5K walk/run while supporting a long-standing local tradition.

A free noncompetitive fun run for children ages 10 and under will also be held, along with a Family Fun Day featuring activities for all ages. Family Fun Day admission is free, though food truck purchases are not included.

Race-day registration will be available from 8 to 8:45 a.m.

Advance registration is $25 per person, while day-of registration is $30.

Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as first-, second- and third-place finishers in eight age divisions ranging from 15 and under through 70 and older.



The 18th Annual Pauly Friedman 5K Walk/Run & Family Fun Day in Kingston brings together fitness, family fun and community spirit for all ages.

Our Temple Israel community is invited to join an interfaith field trip on Sunday, August 16 at 9:30 AM at House of Prayer, 130 Espy St., Nanticoke — the home congregation of our very own Sally Gruver, Administrator.

Experiencing how others worship deepens understanding, strengthens relationships, and enriches our own spiritual life. All are welcome to come, observe, and learn together.
