A Last Burst of Color, Final Exhibit of 2022 at Camden Falls Gallery
Camden Falls Gallery prepares to wrap up its 2022 season with a “LAST BURST OF COLOR”, a new exhibit featuring Camden Falls Gallery artists. The show opens Friday, October 7th and runs through November 1st. Darrow performances to benefit four community organizations
Watts Hall Community Players bring back John Burstein’s solo performance as Clarence Darrow! In this one-man show, John Burstein of Lincolnville portrays the famous attorney, champion of underdogs, as he reminisces about his many sensational and often controversial trials. The return performance of “Darrow” will be benefit four community organizations: Knox County Meals On Wheels; Knox County Homeless Coalition; Restorative Justice; and the Knox Clinic. More...

Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District seeks board nominees
Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District as one opening on its five-member Board of Supervisors. The volunteer board, which is responsible for guiding the District’s business affairs and operations in it’s mission to provide assistance to the community in conservation of land and water resources, is comprised of three elected and two appointed supervisors, who each serve overlapping three-year terms. Informative Medicare Talks at the Camden Public Library
The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is October 15 through December 7. Every fall, the Camden Public Library provides opportunities to help the community gather information and ask questions at free, public Medicare talks. This year, the library will host two drop-in public meetings in the library’s Picker Room. On Tuesday, October 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Linda “Lily” Filippi will give a presentation as a representative of United Healthcare. On Tuesday, October 25, from 10:00 am to 12:00 p.m., Renata Lahner of The Lahner Group, LLC, will facilitate a Medicare information talk. More...

The Georges River Land Trust invites all to the official opening of The Gibson Wellness Walk, its accessible trail at the Gibson Preserve, 637 Woodman’s Mill Rd. in Searsmont, on October 15. PBMC Emergency Department Addition Opens October 5
Pen Bay Medical Center will mark the completion of Phase I of its Emergency Department (ED) expansion project by opening its new addition and ED entrance on Wednesday, Oct. 5. The temporary entrance set up when construction began last year will close at that time, and the current ED space will shut down for renovations. Camden National Bank Employees Collect Donations for Local Shelters
Camden National Bank has announced a community donation of over 2,000 personal care items to local homeless shelters. Employees across the region collected toiletries at its 58 banking center locations, and made personal contributions at the Bank’s annual employee appreciation night. In addition, 650 bath towels were donated to homeless shelters in local communities on behalf of each Camden National Bank employee. More...

IRS reports significant increase in texting scams; warns taxpayers to remain vigilant
The Internal Revenue Service today warned taxpayers of a recent increase in IRS-themed texting scams aimed at stealing personal and financial information. So far in 2022, the IRS has identified and reported thousands of fraudulent domains tied to multiple MMS/SMS/text scams (known as smishing) targeting taxpayers. In recent months, and especially in the last few weeks, IRS-themed smishing has increased exponentially. More...
