Eric Belley, our new President and CEO, is now officially on the job here at the Chamber of Commerce. Keeping office primarily from our Rockland Information Center, Eric looks forward to connecting with and meeting many of you in the coming weeks and months. Adult Ed Art Show at Rockport Public Library
For the entire month of October, Five Town CSD Adult Ed will be displaying artwork by adult ed students in the Rockport Library’s downstairs gallery space. The students, from the popular oil painting and watercolor classes, range from new students to those who have been taking the class for over 20 years. Visit the library and see what amazing work can be created in adult ed! The library is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:00 AM-5:30 PM; and Wednesday from 11:00 AM-8:00 PM.

Come get your friends together and experience a sail complete with Gordon Lightfoot’s classic tunes performed by Maine-based singer/songwriter Tom DiMenna aboard the classic wooden sailing yacht Morning in Maine. This trip is scheduled to sail from Rockland’s Middle Pier on Sunday, October 2, at 4 PM. “N.C. Fletcher’s Camden of 1884” Exhibit and Special Event at Camden Public Library
Every October, the Camden Public Library celebrates “Discover History Month.” The library is home to the Walsh History Center, where material of historical significance to the residents of Camden and Rockport is preserved. This year, Ken Gross, the History Center’s Director, has curated a collection of vintage photos and maps to exhibit in the library’s Picker Room, October 3-30, organized around a history of Camden published in 1883 and 1884. This little-known history is the work of preacher Nathan C. Fletcher and was published serially in the Rockland Opinion as “The Annals of Camden.” To illustrate the history, Gross will present a slideshow on Tuesday, October 4, at 6:30 pm. More...

Tanglewood turns 40; we’d love to celebrate with you!
On October 8th, the UMaine 4-H Camp and Learning Center at Tanglewood is celebrating its 40th birthday, we’d love for you to join us for a free family festival from 2:00-4:30 and a community dinner plus music in the evening (for a donation of $40). This 40th event is a celebration of the collaboration and partnership between Maine State Parks, UMaine Cooperative Extension and 4-H, and a dedicated and passionate group of local community members who saw the need for affordable immersive environmental education for Maine youth. More...

The Camden Conference, in partnership with the Camden Public Library, continues the Community Events Series in October with a presentation by John Doughty on Tuesday, October 18 at 6:30pm.
