Chamber Board Election Results
The annual election for members of our Board of Directors is complete, and we are pleased to share the results!
Our annual election is conducted in two phases, with the first phase consisting of voting by our current business and nonprofit Chamber members. 96 Chamber members cast ballots in this first phase of our election, and elected the following to three-year terms on our board:

We appreciate all of our candidates and their willingness to serve the Chamber as board members! Terms for those elected will commence on January 1, 2023.

By special election earlier this fall, the Board of Directors elected David Gogel of Rockland Main Street, Inc. to fill a vacancy created by a resignation. David will serve for the remainder of that term, through December 2024.

Thanksgiving Dining and Take-Out in the Camden-Rockland Region
In addition to our weekly dining grid found in the left column of this newsletter, we are now compiling a list of member restaurants and other establishments in our region that will be offering Thanksgiving meals, from sit-down dining to a la carte curbside, and more. The Chamber offices have switched to our Late Fall/Winter Hours, and both our Camden and Rockland offices are now open Monday-Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM. If you need to stop in earlier or later, please call ahead to avoid frustration. We appreciate it!

CMCA presents Free First Saturday
The community is invited to explore our fall exhibitions on view, make art in our ArtLab and visit CMCA’s Gift Shop! Free and fun for the whole family! Holiday Wrapping Fundraiser at the Grasshopper Shop of Rockland
Calling all schools, non-profits, and community organizations for a volunteer opportunity to collect donations from Grasshopper Shop customers in exchange for holiday gift wrapping. The Grasshopper Shop of Rockland will provide all the materials: gift wrap, ribbon, tape, scissors, etc. All we need are 1-2 enthusiastic volunteers to wrap and talk up their organizations! Feel free to bring sign(s), brochures, and other promotional materials to display on the wrapping table. More...

St George MSU Fall Festival is November 12
On Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11am-2pm community members are invited to celebrate the season and raise funds for the CTE/Makerspace Building Project at St. George School in Tenants Harbor. The Festival will feature hayrides, a pumpkin catapult designed by Makerspace Director Paul Meinersmann and students, pie eating contests, face painting, live music from St. George students & the Midcoast Community Band, and much more! 4th Annual Turkey Ride rolls on November 12
Maine Sport Outfitters is excited to host the 4th Annual Turkey Ride this month, an event that features riding to Hannaford to purchase a turkey (or sides) and then riding with the turkey to the Camden Area Food Pantry. The event will be held Saturday Nov. 12 beginning at 9 a.m. and is a cycling-focused community event for all ages that helps meet the food-security needs of Midcoast Mainers during the Thanksgiving holidays. “Managing Turbulence: A Poetry Sampler” at the Cushing Public Library
The Camden Conference and the Cushing Public Library will host “Managing Turbulence: A Poetry Sampler” with poems selected by, and facilitated by Ellen Goldsmith, on Sunday, November 20 at 1:30pm. Scone Goddess branches out
The Scone Goddess is excited to announce the partnership with Kate Clark as its first The Scone Goddess brand licensee. Kate and her family will operate The Scone Goddess Rockland. They will be promoting the brand at Guini Ridge Farmer’s Market on Saturdays throughout the winter. Kate will also be supporting The Scone Goddess’ fundraiser for The Knox County Homeless Coalition by opening up the trailer at The Scone Goddess Flagship Store in Northport every Sunday in November starting November 13th. 5% of all fresh baked scone sales generated at the shop in Northport will be donated. Knox County Homeless Coalition Announces Launch of 2022 Adopt-A-Family Program
Each year the Knox County Homeless Coalition (KCHC) holds its Adopt-A-Family program, giving community members an opportunity to purchase holiday gifts for the families they serve in the Midcoast region. This year marks the 7th annual Adopt-A-Family program. The client care team at KCHC is helping more people than ever before—currently reaching about 1,000 individuals, half of whom are children. Coastal Mountains Land Trust launches new Waldo County Conservation Initiative
On November 2nd, Coastal Mountains Land Trust launched the Waldo County Conservation Initiative, a community-based effort to increase the conservation of natural lands in Waldo County for the purposes of wildlife conservation, outdoor recreation, outdoor learning, and climate mitigation. The goal of the initiative is to grow the capacity to complete land conservation projects within the 12 Waldo County towns served by Coastal Mountains Land Trust: Belfast, Belmont, Brooks, Knox, Lincolnville, Morrill, Northport, Prospect, Searsport, Stockton Springs, Swanville, and Waldo. We must stand together and tell our LGBTQ+ youth they matter!
Sue Campbell, Executive Director of OUT Maine, recently attended a school board meeting at MSAD 40 where approximately 300 people were in attendance to either give or listen to arguments for and against the book Gender Queer remaining in the high school library. “While this appeal was about this specific book, this conversation is not about one particular award-winning book in a local school library. It is a national issue about adults who have decided to use at-risk students for political gain and further divide our country, regardless of the impact that may have on these students. More...

BHBT Makes Significant Contribution and Long-Term Commitment to the Maine Lobstermen’s Association
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recently announced it will make a significant ongoing financial contribution to support the Maine Lobstermen’s Association’s legal and policy efforts to protect Maine’s lobster industry. The Bank has also pledged additional funding to aid the association’s four-pronged strategy to preserve sustainable fishing as well as the fishermen and communities that depend on it. More...

The Camden Garden Club celebrated new members during the traditional New Members Coffee which took place October 14 at the home of Membership Chair Karen Cease. 14 new members joined the Club in 2022, bringing the total membership to 88.
