The Natural History of Wood Turtles in Maine
The Center for Wildlife Studies “Wild Maine” Series, in partnership with the Camden Public Library, continues with a presentation on Thursday, March 9 at 6:30 PM by conservation biologist and herpetologist Dr. Matthew Chatfield. Dr. Chatfield will discuss the natural history of wood turtles and some of the approaches that he and his colleagues are using to study and conserve this unusual species. More...

Shade Trees Available for Camden Residents, Order by March 25
Orders are now being accepted for shade trees in Camden through the Camden Garden Club Shade Tree Program. Any Camden resident is eligible to purchase a subsidized shade tree for their property. Property owners should apply by March 25 to the Town of Camden. Residents do not need to live on a main street or sidewalk. Trees can be planted anywhere on the property. The cost of the tree is $75 to the property owner with the rest of the cost covered by the Camden Garden Club and installation covered by the Town of Camden. More...

“Hanging Out in Burma” with Charlie Costello at the Rockport Library
From March 2 through March 30, the Rockport Public Library will feature a show of photography by author and photographer Charlie Costello. Costello has lived and worked in Japan and Thailand and has traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia. His new book, Hanging out in Burma: Laundry Lines and Democracy Hanging in the Balance, is the culmination of three journeys that progressively deepened Costello’s appreciation of the beauty and warmth of its people and the plight of its democracy.
