FRIDAY ROUND-UP
I shared with a friend the other day that I am beginning to hate Sunday nights. I cannot seem to fall asleep- my mind is so busy and even reading (which I love to do) doesn’t get me settled. I have tried everything from diffusing lavender essential oil, homeopathic help and listening to “sleepy” music on the Calm app. I ran across this article from GulfshoreBusiness.com, “Snooze Control: Superior Sleep for Stress Relief” by Justin Paprocki and will be trying these ideas on Sunday! Wish me luck…
The Chamber hosted Leadership NEXT on Tuesday for a Real Estate Update and had 3 great speakers: Bill Steinke, Miloff Aubuchon Realty Group and member of the Royal Palm Coast Realtor Association, and Noelle Branning, Lee County Tax Collector and John Bodner, Chief Operating Officer from the Lee County Tax Collector Office

A few notes to share. From Bill Steinke:

1) Baby Boomers don’t make up the increased demand for Florida but it is the Millennials. With remote working continuing from COVID, low interest rates and Florida’s great weather, we are a great fit.

2) Chicago is a significant feeder market for real estate.

3) There is a gap on building new homes – new home builds slowed down during COVID and now builders are unable to get supplies. Much of the wood needed is from Canada and the border closures are impacting the market and increasing construction costs.

4) We are short 4 million homes in supply from the expected demand.

From Noelle Branning and John Bodner: here is the link to some of the information they shared. When personable people share tax data it makes it very interesting!
Florida Gulf Coast University's Career Development Services & Office of Internships & Cooperative Programs is offering 3 free, online workshops this summer on how to work with the students, finding interns and more. The first workshop, Equip Your Future Workforce Through Internships & Employment is on Tuesday, June 15 from 3:00 – 4:00pm. Register online. Log-in details for this virtual event will be emailed to attendees a few days prior to the event. Questions? Contact Jessica Rhea
We have been sharing two newsletters per week since we became the resource for COVID updates and information back in early 2020. These newsletters are still successful with strong open and click-through rates and great feedback, but we think it might be "time to change" (click the pic for your Friday ear-worm!) With the return of in-person events, we are now able to share content at our events, and with summer approaching we are going to decrease our newsletters to one per week starting in July.

We will start the month with “This Month at the Chamber” to provide you with all the event information you need for your calendar. Then we will alternate with Chamber information and my newsletter. We are going to shift my newsletter to Tuesdays – as we do with the Chamber updates - so you can always expect to have your weekly Chamber information on Tuesday mornings. We will run this through the summer and see how our plan worked. Feel free to share any feedback or other suggestions.

One more shoutout to the Florida Everblades who are home this weekend during round one of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. They are tied 1-1 in a best of 5 series against the South Carolina Stingrays (booooo). It is a great time to come to a game - crazy energy in the arena and even better hockey. Hope to see you there! To reserve tickets click here.

If you want to borrow a Blades jersey, I may have one you could borrow… okay, maybe one of a dozen you could borrow, but who's counting?

Have a great weekend and “Go Blades!”
