Green Sanctuary Task Force Spring Clothing Swap

Our Spring Clothing Swap is happening tomorrow morning, Saturday, April 27, from 9:30 am until noon, in Fellowship Hall. You may bring clothes for the swap beginning at 9:00 am.  For more information, email Stephanie Kimball

Celebrate Earth Day this Saturday  (rain date May 4) from 9 am-12 on our grounds!
❖  Help plant 25 holly bushes and mulch and lay a drip-irrigation hose among the evergreens recently planted by Abell Nursery on the northwest corner to block the cold north wind.

Tuning In to Our Earth: A Celebration and Call to Action

In this music and rhythm-filled intergenerational service, we will explore ways to better attend to the physical and spiritual needs of our planet and all its creatures.  The morning will feature a youth/adult rhythm section coordinated by Colleen Haas and our children's choir, directed by Jill Courtney. The morning will include a tree giveaway by the Green Sanctuary Task Force on Global Climate Change.

This Week in Religious Education
Childcare will celebrate Earth Day. If weather permits, they will play outside. Classes will not meet for Preschool-8th grade this week. We encourage families to attend our Intergenerational Earth Day service together. High School Youth Group will meet from 12:30-2:30 pm in Room 210 for a pizza lunch and conclude their conversation about race, identity, and justice in our lives and congregation.

Filming for Church PR Video on April 28
We will have a roving videographer and some volunteer photographers here at church taking footage of our activities on Earth Day (4/28). If you would prefer not to appear in such video or photos, please sit in the section closest to the tall windows (west side).
Our Folks...
Our hearts are heavy with the unexpected and shocking news of the death of  Mari on Sinclair, a member of this congregation for 40 years. Marion died within days of receiving a diagnosis of terminal and untreatable cancer. A memorial service will be held here at the church on Wednesday, June 12 at 2:00 pm.

The UU Freethinkers discussion group will meet this Sunday at 12:45 pm in Room 208 for an open and non-structured discussion of issues of social, political, and theological/religious concern.
UU Singles Fellowship and Activities Group: Sunday Lunch
Join us for a weekly lunch date! Every Sunday, after the second service, we will meet up by the coatroom to agree on a lunch spot. Hope to see you there!

This Sunday! Bring Small Gardening, Cooking, or Birding Items for the Auction Baskets!
As part of our Annual Goods and Services Auction, we will have themed baskets up for auction. These baskets will include many small items. The basket themes this year are Birding, Cooking, and Gardening. If you have a small item that you could donate to be included in the baskets, please sign up here to let us know, and bring the item(s) to church with you on Sunday (4/28). A Ceremony to Remember & Honor the Pets We Loved & Lost
Monday, April 29, 6:00 pm
Join us on Monday, April 29, at 6:00 pm in Fellowship Hall for a ceremony honoring the pets we have loved and who loved us. This one-hour ceremony, offered by Rev. Karla Kamstra, is designed to provide sacred space through the ritual of music, stories, prayer, and contemplative silence to tenderly open our hearts and allow the grief to flow and help our hearts to heal. Remember to bring a picture of your beloved pet or pets to place on the altar. Hosted by our End of Life Task force. Children are welcome to attend at parents' discretion.

Hatha Yoga Class with Kate Mulligan
Tuesdays thru April 30
5:30 to 7 pm in the Library
A gentle hatha yoga practice to balance the mind, body, and spirit. Includes: warm up and gentle asanas (yoga poses) for strength, flexibility, and relaxation The class is free, but please register by calling or emailing  or 812-332-3695.
First Friday UU Singles Game Night  May 3rd
7 to 10 pm,  Fellowship Hall 
Come as you are, bring a friend, and (optional) feel free to bring games and/or snacks to share as well! Upcoming dates are Friday, May 3rd; Friday, June 7th; and Friday, July 5th (subject to possible 4th-of-July rearranging).

    On Sunday, May 5, we will hold our great and wonderful Goods and Services Auction, starting at 2:00 pm. Make plans now to also attend our pre-auction luncheon and Maypole Celebration, right after second service at 12:30 pm. For the luncheon, we are in need of your delectable desserts - sign up here to donate a dessert
    This entertaining annual fundraiser is a blast, with many delightful items to bid on in all price ranges.  The Auction Catalog is now online  and will also be available at church on April 28. Can't make it? Peruse the catalog and send in an Absentee Bidder Form  (by May 4) to participate from afar!
Buy Grocery Cards on Sunday and Support the Church
Fresh Thyme Cards Now Available
We have grocery gift cards for sale in the Commons every Sunday between services. The participating grocery stores send a percentage of your purchases back to the church to support our operating budget. We have gift cards for Fresh Thyme, Bloomingfoods, and Lucky's, and you can register your Kroger Plus card by clicking  here Our Kroger organization ID number is EW763.
In the first quarter of 2019, 129 households used their Kroger Plus Cards to donate a total of $413.73 to UUCB!
New Deadlines for Order of Service and Friday Update Info
Thursday at 9:00 am
Because we have shifted the rhythm of our work week to hold our weekly staff meeting on Thursdays now, we encourage everyone to send us information for the order of service by 9:00 am on Thursdays. Deadline for info to be included in the Friday Update is also now due by 9:00 am on Thursdays.
Livestream This Sunday's Service
If you can't physically make it to church this Sunday, we invite you to join us via the livestream on our website. At the church we also have screens set up in the nursery (Room 104) and in Fellowship Hall, if you need to leave the Meeting Room for any reason but still want to watch the service.
