Roots and Wings: Singing Our Living Tradition
Reverend Mary Ann Macklin
Bloomington Chamber Singers
In this worship service, we will explore the power of music within our Unitarian Universalist congregations, particularly in terms of our  Singing The Living Tradition hymnal which states in part, "Religion is a present reality, it is also an inheritance; a living faith must have both roots and wings. A hymnbook is one place where we find both."
Join Reverend Macklin and the Bloomington Chamber Singers as we journey within our hymnbook via a Hymn Sing, and much more. During the Time for All Ages, we will hold our annual school backpack blessing. (UU Adult Choir returns to worship on August 11.)
This Week in Religious Exploration*:
Childcare will gather in Room 108 to share stories, play and make new friends.
Preschool will meet in Room 103. They will be hearing "You Be You," a story exploring our Red UU Promise, Respecting All People, and  celebrating our uniqueness and differences.
Kindergarten ages and up are invited to join us upstairs in Room 208 for a special sneak peek into what is coming up in August in our "Stream of Possibility" Intersession. Children and Youth will have opportunities this month to be involved in art, movement, singing and musical creation elements of the Water Communion Intergenerational Service on Sunday, September 1st. We will share a story and song this week and play some games as we reconnect from our summer adventures!  Middle School and High School Youth are welcome and encouraged to join us!

* We use the term "Religious Exploration" for summer sessions  and other special all-ages religious education Sundays.

Announcing our August Intersession:
Stream of Possibility!

For the month of August, we will be singing our children out to their classes with Hymn #1007 from Singing the Journey (the teal hymnal): "There's a River Flowin' in My Soul" (verses 1 & 2).  Here is a video to help get acquainted with the song - there are even hand motions to go along!
Our Folks...

Best wishes for quick healing to Nedra Carlson, who is recovering from recent surgery. Care cards mailed to her at home are welcome, but no visits yet.

The Meeting Room will be available for quiet meditation.
