A Curious Unfolding
Reverend Mary Ann Macklin
I would love to live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding. -- John O'Donohue
Last Sunday I shared that
this Sunday's
worship service would be an important one, for me and for the congregation. This summer, my heart has been heavy; I was planning to announce at this
August 5
worship service that I would be leaving parish ministry and this beloved congregation next year. Then . . . the river flowed around an unexpected bend, to a place of deep joy. Now I will be preaching about why I am staying, and the fluidity of life's unfolding. There will be references to Jordan! (Michael, not the river....well maybe the river too . . . not the avenue.)

This Week in Religious Education: Curiosity
We begin to spark our curiosity
this Sunday
as we have special guests leading us in Religious Education to learn more about our congregation. Kids in Kindergarten up will meet in Fellowship Hall immediately after the Time for All Ages and find their group and guide. They will stay with the same guide each week and explore a different question each week through story, scavenger hunt, outdoors and social justice. Parents can find out which group their child is in and where to pick them up by looking at the signs on the nursery door.
World of Wonder (Preschool) at
9:15am will participate in our August intersession - Amy Makice and Connie Nelson Laird will be visiting with them to share what they hope for. They will start and end in their classroom.
11:15 am preschoolers will stay in their familiar Spirit Play classroom, hear the story of "Cookie Lynch and the Can Van", and investigate our UU Violet Promise: Value the Earth.
High School Youth Group is on hiatus.
