We begin our worship service on Memorial Day weekend, harbinger of summer, with a Bicycle Blessing during our Time for All Ages. During the remainder of the service, Reverend Macklin and Zen Hoshi Frank Diaz will reflect upon Zen Teacher Frank Ostaseski's book The Five Invitations: Discovering What Death Can Teach Us About Living Fully.  In the worship service, Mary Ann and Frank will incorporate meditations and reflections from a workshop they co-facilitated at our UU MidAmerica Regional Assembly in early April.
This Week in Religious Exploration*:
Childcare will listen to stories and play with our wonderful staff!  During the 9:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services we will be introducing our Makerspace for preschool-adults who want to make, tinker, and explore using tools and materials. Middle School and High School Youth group will have a joint end-of-the-year celebration starting in Room 210 at 12:30 p.m. They will have a pizza lunch and then go play Laser Tag with John Summerlot and Rev. Macklin! RSVPs and permission slips are required. Pick up will be at 2:30 at Laser Tag.

UU Freethinkers Meet at 12:45 pm in Room 208
The UU Freethinkers discussion group will meet this Sunday at 12:45 pm in Room 208 for an open and non-structured discussion of issues of social, political, and theological/religious concern.
UU Singles Fellowship and Activities Group: Sunday Lunch
Join us for a weekly lunch date! Every Sunday after the second service, we will meet up by the coatroom to agree on a lunch spot. Hope to see you there!

* Healthy Soil in your Backyard: Learn from the IU Biology Department about decomposers. Get close and messy with creatures that you want in your backyard. 
* Energy Monitoring & Solar: Bring your small appliances and check out your energy usage. Ben Brabson and Trinity youth will assist.
* Bees & Seeds: Get close to bees and learn about their importance in the environment. Make seed balls to plant flowers.
* Writing for Change: Let's tell our national representatives that we believe in climate change and we want to protect our world at the postcard writing table.

Saturday, June 1, Noon to 8 pm

International Outreach Task Force Clothing Drive for Kenya
The International Outreach Task Force is now collecting clothes for the Kenya School and orphanage that we help support. Sizes K-12 are needed. The collection box is under the table in the Commons. We are in particular need of boys clothes and any teen-sized clothes for boys and girls! Collection will continue through August 25th. --Judy Kelly

Church Offices Closed 
Monday, May 27
Because Monday, May 27, is the Memorial Day federal holiday, the church offices will be closed (but our minds will stay open). 
Regular office hours will resume Tuesday, May 28, at 10:00 am. 
Reverend McNeill Away Until July 1
Reverend McNeill will be away from the office May 23-June 30 for scheduled time off and attendance at UUA General Assembly at the end of June. 
He will return on July 1.
Buy Grocery Cards on Sunday and Support the Church
Fresh Thyme Cards Now Available
We have grocery gift cards for sale in the Commons every Sunday between services. The participating grocery stores send a percentage of your purchases back to the church to support our operating budget. We have gift cards for Fresh Thyme, Bloomingfoods, and Lucky's, and you can register your Kroger Plus card by clicking  here Our Kroger organization ID number is EW763.
In the first quarter of 2019, 129 households used their Kroger Plus Cards to donate a total of $413.73 to UUCB!

Please send us information for the Friday Update and the upcoming order of service each week by Thursday at 9:00 am.
Livestream This Sunday's Service
If you can't physically make it to church this Sunday, we invite you to join us via the livestream on our website. At the church we also have screens set up in the nursery (Room 104) and in Fellowship Hall, if you need to leave the Meeting Room for any reason but still want to watch the service.
