No Bus Service-Next Friday

Next Friday, March 1, is the last of our three school days that MSD does not have school, but we do. Therefore, we will have no bus service that day. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

From the Interim Director

Greetings Madrone Trail Families,

We are enjoying the sunshine this week and happy to see the ground dry up a bit for the kids as they play and learn outdoors. We know there is still much more rain to come, but the respite is appreciated.

On Monday, we will welcome back Mr. Nicholas who has been out on extended leave. Madrone Trail would like to thank his long term substitute, Mrs. Spratt for doing such an outstanding job in his place. Mrs. Spratt will continue with us, teaching Eurythmy for at least the next 4 weeks to our 5th-8th grade students.

The faculty met briefly with Ahavah Oblak from Four Winds Consulting at our staff meeting Wednesday, and are excited to engage with grant seeking and writing in collaboration with Ahavah in the coming weeks.

Jamie Lloyd will be on campus next week to complete teacher evaluations, as previously mentioned.

Also- don't forget, the Dinner and Auction fundraiser is next Saturday, March 2nd. If you'd like to bid on items but can't make the event, the silent auction will be available online. See the information below for more details. If you are planning on attending, please get your tickets before they sell out. It's shaping up to be quite an event!

Thank you for making Madrone Trail Public Charter School as your school of choice, we are fortunate to have you and your students as a part of the community. As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, or would just like to say hello, please call or stop by any time.

With gratitude,

Andy Bracco

Attention Auction Goers and Virtual Participants

Download Bidding Owl Ahead of Time!

This year we are using an app for the silent auction called Bidding Owl. Guests will be able to bid on silent auction baskets (including starting 48 hours before showtime), update their bids in real time during the auction and – best of all – the checkout process will be much more seamless. Use of the Bidding Owl app is required to participate in the silent auction! Download now and create an account so you’re set up for the big event!

With the app, bidding on silent auction items will start on Thursday at 5 pm and close on Saturday at 8 pm! Also some great news! If you are unable to attend or know someone who would like to bid remotely… all silent auction items can be bid upon and won from afar using Bidding Owl! Please note that the school will not cover shipping costs. Someone local will need to package and ship if the winning bidder is not local.

Cheers to a Great Auction this Year!

(NORM, the eternal barfly, sits on his throne of barstools, nursing a beer. SAM, the suave bartender, slides over with a grin as DIANE, the sophisticated intellectual, sweeps into the bar.)

SAM: Norm, Diane, brace yourselves for the news of the century! Madrone Trail Public Charter School is throwing an 80s-themed auction!

NORM: (Sips beer) Don't tell me, Sammy, they've finally discovered the market value of my unparalleled expertise in avoiding household chores?

DIANE: (Chuckles) Not quite, Norm. It's an event, darling. March 2nd, 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Ashland Armory. Think you can handle it?

NORM: (Smiles) If they serve beer, I can handle anything.

SAM: And here's the kicker – buy a ticket before the 25th, and you're in the running for a free massage.

NORM: Massage? Well, color me relaxed. What's next, a facial at the library?

DIANE: (Laughs) Norm, don't be absurd. Spread the word. We want the entire Cheers crew there.

NORM: Consider it spread, Diane. What's next on this rollercoaster of excitement?

SAM: Early birds get the worm, or in this case, the sneak peek. Set up your Bidding Owl account and get a glimpse of the auction items.

DIANE: Sneak peeks? How thrilling! Oh, and Norm, they're accepting physical donations until the end of today. Any hidden treasures in your vast collection for donation?

NORM: Well, I do have this vintage beer can pyramid that's practically an art installation.

SAM: (Laughs) Perfect! And if you're feeling like a philanthropic kingpin, they're still taking cash sponsorships. Just email auction@madronetrail.org.

NORM: (Slurps beer) What’s an e-mail?

SAM: No clue!

DIANE: So, Norm, are you ready to make history at the Madrone Trail 80s auction?

NORM: As long as they have my usual barstool reserved, a chance at a massage, and the promise of a bidding war, count me in.

SAM: That's the spirit, Norm! Let's turn this auction into a legendary event!

(As Norm raises his glass, the gang at Cheers gears up for an 80s night like no other. Cue the Cheers theme as the excitement builds.)

Thank you to our Auction Sponsors!

A Successful State Review!

Our program manager from the Oregon Department of Education’s Child Nutrition office visited Madrone Trail on Tuesday and Wednesday to review our meal program. This celebrates the completion of the process of becoming a sponsor of the national school lunch and breakfast programs. The review looked at everything from food safety practices, compliance with nutrition requirements, record-keeping, financial oversight, and many other aspects of the program. The program manager was very impressed with our program and the quality of our meals! A big THANK YOU to Chefs Sage, Sas & Jen for their hard work every day!

And in case you missed it…

Breakfast and Lunch (NOT SNACKS) Now Free for All K-8 Students!

Because our community meets a minimum threshold of families participating in SNAP and Medicaid, all breakfast and lunch meals are FREE for all students K-8 starting January 1 (retroactively). Yes, you read that right! ALL BREAKFAST AND LUNCH MEALS ARE NOW FREE TO EVERY STUDENT K-8. We will no longer have to process lunch applications and we do not have to track which meals are served to which students, only count the meals each day. This is a game changer, obviously for our parents and kids who do not qualify for free meals already, but it also eases the administrative burden on the lunch program.

Since the program started retroactively on January 1, families who paid for breakfast or lunch must be reimbursed. We have already credited everyone’s account to whom this applies. If you have a significant positive balance on your account, you can request a reimbursement by completing this form. Snacks are not free, so if you would like your student to continue receiving snacks please be sure to indicate on the form how much $ you would like to leave on the account. Be sure to check your balance on EZ app before requesting a reimbursement.

Please Note

Since students participating in the SPROUTS program are not technically district students, this does not apply to pre-K students. Pre-K students may still receive meals but at the established paid price -- funds will need to remain on your account

Our Pre-Order Policy Remains in Place

Pre-orders are required for breakfast burritos and our daily lunch specials; our other breakfast options and daily soups do not require a pre-order. Pre-orders are accepted until 10 pm the day prior to service. If we do not have a pre-order for your student, they are welcome to choose from our other delicious options.

Bon Appétit!

Chipotle Fundraiser

Madrone Trail is hosting another fundraiser, this time at Chipotle! It will be on Monday, March 11, from 4-8 pm.

In order for your purchase to count, you will need to either:

  • verbally tell the cashier you are there to support Madrone Trail
  • show a physical fundraiser flyer
  • show a digital flyer on a smartphone or other mobile device (the picture below on your phone will work!)
  • use the fundraiser’s online ordering code TYQ44F7 to place an order for pickup through the Chipotle app or website. (More instructions below.)

Delivery orders or orders placed at a different time/location than the scheduled event will not count towards the fundraiser.

The 8th grade class made almost $200 at their MOD pizza fundraiser, thank you to everyone who supported them!
