From the Board

Hello Madrone Trail Family,

As always the board has been hard at work trying to help ensure the continued thriving of our school. One of the things that we are always working on is fundraising for the school. Three things that we have been working on alongside faculty and some other community members are as follows:

1. The Early Learning Literacy Grant- this grant will provide funding to help with literacy work in our younger students on campus.

2. We are seeking to hire a grant writer position so that we can make the most of all the grants that could be available to us. That hire will likely be made in the next couple of weeks.

3. The auction is fast approaching and some board members along with other volunteers are helping to get donations and prepare for that night. The goal is to raise $20,000.

While we are always looking for ways to find more funding, our budget this last month is looking good with income and expenditures right where they were projected to be.

Our search for an interim director is ramping up and we should have someone in place no later than February 1st but possibly sooner. We will let you know as soon as we are able to when we finalize that position. In the meantime, Cori and the faculty are doing a wonderful job holding the school and we will be bringing in Julie Barry to help twice a week until our interim director is in place.

We would love to hear from you or answer any questions you may have, so please reach out at board@madronetrail.org or attend our monthly meeting on the second Thursday of each month. You can also catch a board member at any time around campus, we would love to connect!

For the good of the school,

Madrone Trail Board of Directors

Kitchen Update

To sandwich or not to sandwich, that is the question…

We have received some feedback that it was surprising/disappointing that our winter menu does not include our sandwich options previously available. We have offered the sandwiches in the past as an alternative to the daily specials in case students have not pre-ordered. With the abundance of soups on the menu, we felt we needed to drop the sandwiches for labor reasons. However, we have decided to bring back at least the sun butter and jam sandwich for now since some kids prefer it over other options. We ask that parents pre-order the sandwich so we can make it fresh every day for your student and avoid wasted food and work. The sun butter and jam option can now be found on the menu every day for all grades as a pre-order item. Visit EZ App to place your orders.

Auction Tickets on Sale!

17th Annual Madrone Trail Benefit Auction - the Iconic 80s!

**Custom artwork by Madrone Trail parent Kylie Swenson!!!**

The auction is nigh! We hope you are prepared for what’s shaping up to be a memorable and fun night for the benefit of our school. Are you ready to let your 80s hair down for an evening?

This year, we're turning up the volume on nostalgia, cranking the neon to eleven, and inviting you to our totally righteous 80s-themed auction on March 2nd, 2024, at the Historic Ashland Armory! 🎉 Tickets include a Chinese buffet prepared fresh on-site by our very own crew headed by Chef Nick! Keep an eye out for the exact menu which includes plenty of delicious vegan options and a nostalgia-themed candy bar for dessert!

Picture this: you in your raddest 80s threads gobbling up the costume competition like Pac-Man, chowing down on nostalgic eats, and music so electric you'll swear you're in a John Hughes movie. It's going to be the event of the year, and you won't want to be stuck at home watching reruns of Alf when you could be dancing the night away with fellow parents who, like you, totally rock like the days of big hair and boomboxes.

And guess what? We've got a gnarly deal for early birds like you! Snag your tickets now for just $45 – that's less than the cost of a dozen scrunchies or a pair of parachute pants. But be warned, after February 19, prices are going up faster than a DeLorean hitting 88 mph ($60), so grab your tickets ASAP.

Don't be a square! Share the love and invite your friends, neighbors, and even that cousin you haven't seen since cassette tapes were a thing. The more, the merrier, right? Let's pack the Armory and make this night one for the history books.

Dust off your leg warmers, tease up that hair, brush up on your moonwalk, and let's make this 80s Auction a blast from the past we'll be talking about for, like, a totally long time! 🕺💃

Can't wait to see you on March 2nd!
