From the Board

Greetings Madrone Trail Community,

Since the passing of our dear Director, Mr. Roberts, the board has been diligently looking for short and long-term solutions to keep our school moving in the right direction. We are very excited to announce that Andy Bracco will be filling the role of Interim Executive Director for the remainder of the school year. Andy was selected because of his breadth of administrative experience, and knowledge of our school and school district, which we feel positions him to best get up to speed quickly and lead our school forward. Below is a bio about Andy, and he was most recently in the same role at Medford School District as Kendall was before he joined Madrone Trail.

Andy is a native Oregonian who has served over twenty years as a licensed K-12 teacher and administrator. Born and raised in the Portland area, he studied psychology and special education at the University of Oregon. He raised his two adult children in Eugene before relocating to Southern Oregon in 2018. He currently lives in Medford with his partner Melissa and her two children, one of whom is a current student at Madrone Trail, the other attends South Medford High School. Andy is an active fan of the performing arts and has acted in local community theater. He also spends lots of time on home improvement projects, volunteering, and enjoying the outdoors. Andy met the teachers and attended the faculty meeting on Wednesday. He officially started today, some of you may have seen him around campus today.

With the interim position in place, the board will next be turning its attention to the search for an Executive Director for next year and beyond. We already have a number of interested candidates, including our interim candidates, and the prospects are very promising. Whereas our Interim search was more focused on the ability to help our school quickly, our long-term search will be our more traditional and in-depth process, with an eye towards finding the best candidate for us for at least the next several years. We thank you all for your patience through this time, and changes are naturally a little unsettling, but we hope you welcome Mr. Bracco, and work with us to make Madrone Trail the best place for education for many more years to come!

For the good of the school,

Madrone Trail Board of Directors

From Ms. Shelby

Dear Madrone Trail Families,

In the second week of February, I will be stepping away from my position at Madrone Trail toward an opportunity at the SOESD. I have treasured my time here serving all of your wonderful children and being a part of such an amazing staff. I have been touched by the way each family has contributed to the vibrant and warm sense of community at Madrone Trail, and will dearly miss the big excited smiles and hugs, small voices raised in song, and all of the heart put into teaching and learning here every day.

Madrone Trail is continuing to work to hire a replacement. Please stay tuned for updates regarding this.

Bella and Natasha chipped in with 2 points each in both the JV and varsity games.

Anastasia and Sidra contributed tough defense and hustle.

Madrone Athletics Fundraiser

Next month, our athletics program will be doing our largest fundraiser of the year to support our athletics program. We will be selling pies from the Willamette Pie Company. Their fundraising program has helped hundreds of organizations. In fact, my high school Girls’ basketball program has raised over seven thousand dollars the last 2 years using this program.

Any 6th or 7th grader that has participated in sports or clubs this year will be asked to help sell pies. The entire 8th grade class will be asked to sell pies with half of the proceeds from 8th grade going to the athletic fund and half going to the 8th grade trip. Some of the 8th graders came up with this idea; and it’s awesome.

Be on the lookout for pie order forms to come home January 29th. They will be due back at school February 20th. Pies will be delivered March 8th. If any student wants to help sell pies from a different grade level; simply email me their name and grade level.

Go Dragons!
