Dear Families,

It looks like we are drying out and will get to enjoy a bit of sunshine! The Ski Club can finally head up to the mountain and enjoy the snow without gale force winds! Hopefully this will give you all a chance to get out and enjoy the benefits of living in the Rogue Valley.

However, should the ill winds blow again…

SEVERE WEATHER PROCEDURES

Madrone Trail follows the decisions made by the Medford School District regarding severe weather procedures. Please refer to social media or media announcements for guidance from MSD.

In the event school needs to be delayed, canceled, or released early (due to an unexpected weather event occurring during school hours), the following decisions are possible:

Normal school hours – snow routes: some bus routes in higher elevations change due to snow or slick road conditions. Snow routes are posted ahead of time at: www.medford.k12.or.us/snow

Cancellation:  School and district are closed.

Two-hour delayed start – regular routes OR snow routes: School begins two hours after regularly scheduled start time. Regular bus routes or snow routes may run, depending on road conditions.

Releasing school early – normal routes OR snow routes: School is released early due to hazardous road conditions. Buses may run regular routes or snow routes, depending on road conditions.

MODULAR UPDATE

We have permits in hand! We can finally continue the final stages of our project, which includes installation of fiber optic lines for the internet, low voltage for the fire alarm system, electrical connection, and a ramp/landing for building access.

CHANGE IN AFTER SCHOOL PLANS

Lately we have had some parents calling the office to change after school pick up plans at the last minute. After 3:00 pm, Sherrie is busy with the bus kids and may not be able to get the message to your child in time. Please call the office no later than 2:30 pm to ensure that your child and staff are all up to date about your child's after school plans.

AUCTION - FEBRUARY 25

As you will see further down the page, our annual auction is scheduled for February 25. I would encourage you to attend this fun event, and reach out to your friends and acquaintances and solicit their involvement. We have several upcoming projects and a healthy fundraiser would go a long way towards their completion.

COFFEE WITH ADMINISTRATION

I will be making myself available each week after our assembly or play for a “Coffee with the Administration” discussion. This will be an informal get together where you are free to ask questions, raise concerns, share ideas and provide me the opportunity to seek feedback from you. So I invite you to stay for a few minutes after each assembly and sample Chef Evan’s special blend while we chat!

Have a wonderful long weekend,

Auction Update

Auction tickets are now on sale! Click on the link below to buy yours now! We are offering an affordable $20 admission without dinner and if you purchase a ticket with dinner before February 1, they are $50 (they jump to $60 thereafter).

The menu will be advertised soon, but rest assured you won't be disappointed. Our very own Chef Evan is planning an amazing Brazilian and Caribbean inspired feast and your first beverage is included. Plates are limited, so don't miss out!

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to work at the auction! It is really coming together. However, we are still in need of volunteers (4 hours of work = a ticket with dinner and we still have work slots open that occur before the auction). Of course, cash and in-kind sponsors are still welcome as well. Email [email protected] to connect with us!

Lunch Program Update

Our revamped (in-house) lunch and breakfast program is commencing on Monday, February 27! We are still waiting on the State to send over a final piece of paperwork before we can send out more information about the program along with applications for free breakfast and lunch. We expect this to happen on Monday, so be on the lookout for an envelope marked "Important" coming home next week with your students! In the meantime, our menu is finalized and ready for you to check out in the meantime!

I will be holding an informal info session after school on Friday, January 27th at 3:30 pm in the gym. I will share a bit about my experience with and insights into the national school lunch program, but this is primarily an opportunity for parents and students to ask questions and learn more about the program including technical help with our payment and ordering system. Hope to see you there.

Basketball

Our girls’ basketball team had their first game last night and competed very well. They ended up on the losing end of a close game, but fought hard the whole way, ultimately falling 21-25. Maddy played aggressively and showed off her great ball control. Natasha was strong on defense getting a nice steal, Jojo made 2 shots, and Charley and Bella each made one shot as well. Way to go Dragons!

Next week’s schedule
