The yurts are progressing nicely. One is almost entirely done, and the other three got their tops and domes put on this week. Pictured is Mr. Joe in the lift, with Mr. Bissey, Mr. Barbee, and Scott on the ground guiding it to the correct position.

Sibling Enrollment Forms Coming Soon
Be on the lookout next week for a link to our Sibling Enrollment Form. This year the form will need to be completed online, instead of on paper. This is an opportunity for siblings of current Madrone Trail students to join our school if there are openings next year. This form is especially important for incoming Kindergartners, as they will be placed in the class on a first come first, served basis. Please note that incoming Kindergartners need to be 5 years old by June 1, 2021 to be eligible to enroll for the 2021-2022 school year. The form will be due February 26.

I-Ready Coming Up-- NEXT WEEK
The I-Ready diagnostic test is a district wide assessment that is administered three times a year to 2nd-8th graders. We have already done the Fall assessment, and now it is time to do our Winter assessment. Just like last time, we will use some of our Main Lesson time to administer it. On January 26 and 27, 2nd-8th grade class teachers will not be teaching full main lessons. There will be a short check in, and then the remainder of the time will be spent taking the I-Ready Diagnostic. There are two tests, a reading and a math assessment. Children who receive Special Education services will be taking it with the assistance of Ms. Ann and Ms. Amanda. Look out for updates from them about exactly how that will look.
We have put information on how to log in, how to support your child during the test, and a short video that explains how the test works on our school website here. Please click below to check out all of these resources if you have not done so already. It's important that parents and children understand what they can and cannot do while taking the test. Usernames and passwords will be distributed by the class teachers, but will be the same as last time.

School Pictures Update
If your child had their picture taken in December, the picture packages have arrived at school for pick up. If your child got their picture taken and you didn't order a package, but would like to, you still can. Picture previews with image IDs were also sent for all students who didn't receive pictures. If you are unable to come down to the school to pick them up, call Miss Sherrie in the office, 541-842-3657, and she can give you the picture ids over the phone.
Retake day will be Friday, February 26. If you missed picture day the first time, please try to make it to retake day. Even if you do not want school pictures, we use these for the yearbook and class photo sheets and want everybody represented!

Materials Drop Off and Pick Up-- NEW PROTOCOL
Starting Tuesday, January 19 we will no longer allow parents to come on campus to pick up and drop off materials. Instead, please park at the bus gate by the office and call. Someone from the office will bring out materials to you. We know this is not ideal, but for the best ultimately. Thanks for your understanding.
UPDATE: Extra Handwork materials (thread, needles, cloth, etc) will be in the Handwork box next to the gate in the parking lot, in envelopes or bags with students' names on them. This is as needed and separate from regular materials pick up days.

Easy Ways to Support Madrone Trail
If you shop at Amazon and/or Fred Meyer there is an easy way to earn money for our school!
For Amazon: The Amazon Smile program donates 0.5% of eligible purchases to organizations. Go to smile.amazon.com and choose Madrone Trail Initiative as your charity of choice. Every time you shop, remember to do so through the website, and 0.5% will go to our school. New! You can now use Amazon Smile on the Amazon App. Open the app and click on the 3 bars. Scroll down to Programs & Features, click on see all. Scroll down until you find Amazon Smile. If you have already set it up through the website, follow the directions to activate it. If you haven't picked a charity of choice, follow directions to select Madrone Trail Initiative as yours.
For Fred Meyer: The Fred Meyer Community Rewards program donates to local schools, community organizations, and non-profits. Go to their website and click on the link to "Link your Rewards Card now." You will need to create a log-in if you don't have one already, or sign-in if you do. Search for Madrone Trail Public Charter School, and select us as your charity of choice. Every time you use your Fred Meyer Reward Card it will donate a small portion to our school. Last quarter our school earned $42.51 from 17 families, the more families we can get to do this the better!
Thanks for your support!
