Saints and Service

Community service is an integral part of education at St. Joseph Catholic School. Our service to the community teaches students the importance of making service a lifelong practice, to become better citizens and to live out their faith. St. Joseph Catholic School has partnered with Catholic Charities St. Lucy Food Project to conduct service projects throughout the year and assist families experiencing food insecurity.

The October collection is through October 24.

Thank you for your support!

Let's Do Lunch!

October is the month of "lunches"!

We invite YOU to enjoy lunch with your child in the lunchroom during his/her lunch period!

Treasure these times with your child before they grow up and head on to high school!

Up to 4 parents per class will have the opportunity to sit with their child and their classmates.

Parents (or any adult) must be Child Protection compliant.

Also, because of food allergies, we ask that no food is brought in for other students.

**Please note - siblings should not be present during this special time

with you and your SJS Saint.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to you taking advantage

of this wonderful time with your child!

Volunteer for Lunch and Recess!

St. Joseph Catholic School will implement a 12-hour family service requirement, effective with the 2023-2024 school year. All families are encouraged to participate, and many opportunities exist to volunteer time, talent, or treasure, including class field trips, parties or other classroom help, cafeteria, recess and hands-on activities such as art or outdoor classroom activities. The PTO also has numerous opportunities such as the auction, Donut Sundays, etc.  All volunteers must be compliant through the Child Protection Program if they will have substantial contact with students. Families that do not participate in the service program will be charged a $120.00 fee, or partial fee of $10 per hour for hours not volunteered.

Nurse's Corner

This is the time of year when we expect to see an increase in the number of respiratory illnesses in our community, including coughs, colds, sore throats, COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and influenza (“flu”). While these illnesses are not unusual for this time of year, there are several things that you can do to protect your child and others.

Click HERE to read a letter from the Fairfax County Health Department.

Please read and take note of the guidance provided as we are seeing an increased number of students with respiratory illness. We hope that this information will help provide added guidance needed to help keep your child healthy and prevent the spread of illness amongst classmates and others.

Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day

A healthy eating routine is important at every stage of life and can have positive effects that add up over time. It’s important to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy or fortified soy alternatives, and protein foods. When deciding what to eat or drink, choose options that are full of nutrients.

PTO Donut Sunday
