Band Instruments - Do Not Leave at School

Please note -- students cannot store their band instruments anywhere within the school building. Instruments should be in the building on Tuesdays, or other performance days, only, and at home on all other days.

Instruments left around the building will be collected and a service charge of $10 will be imposed to retrieve the instrument, starting with the second offense.

Cell Phones

Students are not permitted to use or carry cellphones during the school day and may not be used by the student during arrival or dismissal. Cell phones must remain in the backpack, locked in the locker, and in the off or silenced position. Disruptions to class, or violations of student privacy caused by a student using a cellphone will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Any student who brings a cell phone to school assumes responsibility for the phone. St. Joseph Catholic School is not responsible for any loss, theft, damage or other consequence to the cell phone.

Cell phones in use during any time will be confiscated by the teacher in charge. Cell phones will only be returned to parents, who must come into the school to retrieve the phone. Repeat violators will be charged $10.00 per offense.

Report Card Access

For families with students in Grades 3-8, the Diocese of Arlington is proud to offer the ease of viewing your child’s academic progress and report card for ALL trimesters within the PowerSchool parent portal. Parents are responsible to log in to PowerSchool to monitor progress on assignments, quizzes and examinations for students in Grades 3-8. Each parent may create one parent account and then link each child to the account. PowerSchool remains the most up-to-date resource to track your child’s academic progress. For families with students in Grades K-2, the PowerSchool parent portal is the place to view your child’s report card for each trimester.

We will not be sending a printed copy of the report card home with students, nor will we send report cards via email.

For more information and instructions on how to access report cards, click HERE.

Volunteer for Lunch and Recess!

St. Joseph Catholic School will implement a 12-hour family service requirement, effective with the 2023-2024 school year. All families are encouraged to participate, and many opportunities exist to volunteer time, talent, or treasure, including class field trips, parties or other classroom help, cafeteria, recess and hands-on activities such as art or outdoor classroom activities. The PTO also has numerous opportunities such as the auction, Donut Sundays, etc.  All volunteers must be compliant through the Child Protection Program if they will have substantial contact with students. Families that do not participate in the service program will be charged a $120.00 fee, or partial fee of $10 per hour for hours not volunteered.

Nurse's Corner

95210 Health Initiative for December:

Get at least 1 hour of physical activity each day

With children spending more time watching TV and playing games on their electronic devices, parents are encouraged to limit their child’s TV, video game and computer time. Parents can set a good example by being active themselves. “Physical Activity is one of the best things people can do to improve their health. It is vital for healthy aging and can reduce the burden of chronic diseases and prevent early death” (CDC).
