Re-Enrollment for the 2024-2025 School Year

With our 93% retention rate, it is reasonable to streamline our re-enrollment processes. The process is restructured so that current students will be automatically re-enrolled for the 2024-2025 school year. Enrollment fees of $300 per student and a $50 per family FACTS management fee will be charged on February 1, 2024 from the FACTS account on file. Families in need of an extension payment plan must also contact the Business Office by January 12. Re-enrollment fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

If, for some reason, your student will not be returning to St. Joseph Catholic School, notification in writing is needed by January 12, 2024. We are confident that you will find this expedited and recurring re-enrollment process helpful. If you have any questions, please contact Tisha Hilliard (thilliard@sjcherndon.org or 703-880-4355) in the Business Office.

Report Cards - Now Available

For families with students in Grades 3-8, the Diocese of Arlington is proud to offer the ease of viewing your child’s academic progress and report card for ALL trimesters within the PowerSchool parent portal. Parents are responsible to log in to PowerSchool to monitor progress on assignments, quizzes and examinations for students in Grades 3-8. Each parent may create one parent account and then link each child to the account. PowerSchool remains the most up-to-date resource to track your child’s academic progress. For families with students in Grades K-2, the PowerSchool parent portal is the place to view your child’s report card for each trimester.

We will not be sending a printed copy of the report card home with students, nor will we send report cards via email.

For more information and instructions on how to access report cards, click HERE.

Volunteer for Lunch and Recess!

St. Joseph Catholic School will implement a 12-hour family service requirement, effective with the 2023-2024 school year. All families are encouraged to participate, and many opportunities exist to volunteer time, talent, or treasure, including class field trips, parties or other classroom help, cafeteria, recess and hands-on activities such as art or outdoor classroom activities. The PTO also has numerous opportunities such as the auction, Donut Sundays, etc.  All volunteers must be compliant through the Child Protection Program if they will have substantial contact with students. Families that do not participate in the service program will be charged a $120.00 fee, or partial fee of $10 per hour for hours not volunteered.

Nurse's Corner

95210 Health Initiative for December:

Get at least 1 hour of physical activity each day

With children spending more time watching TV and playing games on their electronic devices, parents are encouraged to limit their child’s TV, video game and computer time. Parents can set a good example by being active themselves. “Physical Activity is one of the best things people can do to improve their health. It is vital for healthy aging and can reduce the burden of chronic diseases and prevent early death” (CDC).
