Dear Parents-
Distance learning restarted smoothly after our well-deserved Easter break, and I send a heartfelt thank you to the entire team- teachers, parents, students!
As we move on through the last few weeks of school, it’s essential to remember that what we are doing now is extremely important. Everyone is aware that the teachers are planning and providing lessons that complete the current grade-level, and prepare students for success in the fall. Time and effort spent now will make the transition back to school in August much easier.
As to internet safety for our students, please remember that parent control of student access to the internet is still appropriate. All of our platforms will work with parental controls on iPads, chromebooks, etc., that limit free access to the internet. Additionally, by default, ZOOM has implemented many safety upgrades, listed here. Please do not post ZOOM links on any website.
Requiring a password upon entry
(students who use a link do not need a password)
Enabling a waiting room
Muting all participants
These safety upgrades are teacher driven, and in place:
Requiring students to use their names
Disabled chat
Screen-sharing disabled for students
Teachers record all sessions
so students can access lessons at a later time.
For further information on cyber-safety, please consider attending Denise DeRosa’s Cyber-Sensible workshop on Parenting in the Digital Age. This Digital Wellness Day Virtual Workshop is free and “parents will get step-by-step instruction on privacy and safety settings across popular mobile devices, apps, browsers, games and search engines.” Information and registration can be found below. The workshop is scheduled for Friday, May 1, from 1:00-2:00PM.
I sent an email to all families regarding the yearbook and a link to purchase online….
https://sales.yearbookmarket.com/stores/saintjosephcatholicschool/products
. The link is live until Saturday, April 25th, and is the last chance to order a yearbook! As to picking up, or when you might get your copy of the yearbook, that remains to be determined. Nothing will happen until the stay at home order is lifted.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can be of any assistance.
Welcome one another...as Christ welcomed you!
(Rom 15:7)
