Dear Parents-
With great sadness, we note the passing of over 100,000 Americans during our three-month fight against the Coronavirus. We pray for the deceased and their families, and we also pray for the scientists and researchers, that the Holy Spirit gives them wisdom and fortitude to find a vaccine. As we continue to move forward, Northern Virginia entered Phase One today. Phase One allows non-essential business to reopen at 50% capacity, including restaurants with outdoor seating, and Mass can be celebrated with churches at 50% capacity. (See below for SJC schedule). Indoor entertainment is still closed, beaches are open for recreational activity, but no
tents, group sports or gatherings of more than 10 are allowed on public beaches.
Furthermore, Governor Northam issued Executive Order 63 (2020) that requires the wearing of a face covering while inside any building specifically listed in the order including
any retail stores, any personal care and grooming establishments, and “all places where people congregate.” There are certain exceptions to the order, and it can be accessed at
this link
.
Phase One is anticipated to be in effect until at least June 5, and at that time it is likely the entire Commonwealth will move to Phase Two.
The Office of Catholic Schools set May 29 as the last day for students to submit work for credit. It is not the last day of school. Teachers will hold classes/office hours until June 10. In addition, June 1- June 4 is Encore Extravaganza and Spirit Week! Join in for the fun all week long. Check google classrooms for links and info.
Before you head off for the summer,
please
bag up any materials and textbooks that you have at home that
need to be returned to SJS
. Each child should put his or her textbooks into a bag, seal up the bag, write YOUR NAME, grade and teacher on the bag. Do this NOW, so you don’t lose anything. As soon as possible, a date will be set to return the items. Each child needs his or her OWN BAG, so that materials can be accurately inventoried and returned to the classroom.
Dates and logistics for dropping off textbooks will be announced when available.
I pray for the health and safety of our community.
As always, if you have any questions, or if I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
Welcome one another...as Christ welcomed you!
