PLEASE READ!!!
Important reminders from the school nurse to Parents/Guardian for the 2024-2025
As we begin the New Year 2024-2025, please re-read this document as a guide to help reduce the spread of illness in our homes and our school community
This is the time of the year when we expect to see an increase in the number of respiratory illnesses in our community, including coughs, colds, sore throats, COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and influenza (“flu”) to name a few. While these illnesses are not unusual for this time of year, there are several things that you can do to protect your child and others.

Regular attendance is essential for achieving the goals and objectives of our curriculum. We kindly ask that parents ensure their children are in school consistently. Frequent absences can disrupt learning and make it difficult for students to stay on track. Let's work together to support our students' education and success!

| | Reminder per St. Joseph Catholic School Handbook: Students should not bring a cell phone to school. Parents are strongly asked to support this policy. Students are not permitted to use or carry cell phones during the school day and may not be used by the student during arrival or dismissal. Cell phones must remain in the backpack, locked in the locker, and in the off or silenced position. Disruptions to class, or violations of student privacy caused by a student using a cellphone will be dealt with on a case by case basis. Any student who brings a cell phone to school assumes responsibility for the phone. St. Joseph Catholic School is not responsible for any loss, theft, damage or other consequence to the cell phone. Cell phones in use during any time will be confiscated by the teacher in charge. Cell phones will only be returned to parents, who must come into the school to retrieve the phone. Repeat violators will be charged $10.00 per offense. Students who, without authorization by an adult, use a cell phone at any time during the school day will be issued a detention. Students who violate this rule a second time face suspension. Decisions related to cell phone policy violations are at the discretion of the administration.

Trinity House - Building a Faith Filled Home | |
All families are invited to participate in a new ministry at our parish developed by Trinity House Community in Leesburg. Its mission is to inspire families to make home a taste of heaven for the renewal of faith and culture. The ministry model is based on the teaching that the family is a communion of persons in the image of the Holy Trinity. Detailed information is available at Home - Trinity House Community Click HERE for more information!
A series of free family workshops will be held in the parish hall on Saturday evenings. The first one is on September 28th after 5:00 Mass. It starts with parents and kids having a simple meal together (e.g., pizza and salads). From 6:45 to 7:30 parents watch a short presentation on one aspect of faith formation in the home, followed by small group discussions, while kids are kept occupied and supervised by Virtus-trained volunteers. At 7:30 all gather for fellowship and dessert. Attendees may bring a side dish, drink, or dessert to share. Please contact Len Grus if you would like to attend or volunteer (lengrus@verizon.net or 703-300-7297).
