Happy Friday, Church Family!
On Sunday immediately following the worship service, I will be holding a denominational information session in our sanctuary for anyone curious about what’s going on with the United Methodist Church. This info session will be recorded and made available on our website for later viewing. I am holding this session in the hopes of answering 4 questions I’ve been hearing from our congregation:
What is the current state of the UMC?
When are key decisions being made and how will they affect our local church?
What options does our local church have in the meantime?
How will mission and ministry be affected?
I imagine this informational session will last roughly 45 minutes in length. This session will be for informational purposes only and will not include any voting or decision making. My greatest hope is that, for those who are curious, it will provide clarity with regards to all that is happening and also confidence in the reality that the Holy Spirit is moving in a beautiful way within our congregation.
Once this information session is over, I will be getting in a car with my family and we will be heading to Raleigh in preparation for a two week vacation to Florida. My wife and I haven’t been to Florida since prior to the COVID 19 pandemic, and it is important for us that our children have time to see grandparents and great grandparents, as well as some aunts and uncles too. We will also be taking the kids to Disney, something we’ve been dreaming of doing for many years.
From Sunday afternoon through Monday, July 11th, I will be taking some very intentional time away from email and my work phone. I ask that you pray for me and my family during this time. Pray that we would be able to rest, relax, and enjoy the time that we have graciously been given to be away. We do not take this time for granted. The ability to go on vacation is an incredible blessing we receive from the church and we are thankful for it.
While I am away we will have two wonderful worship opportunities for our community. On Sunday, July 3rd, we will have a Hymn Sing which will feature hymns requested by you! On Sunday, July 10th, Pastor David Hollowell will be preaching.
The next time you see me after Sunday, I will be going full steam into year two of ministry at Wrightsboro UMC and I am grateful for every second of it!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Angelo
