200,000 More Reasons is sponsoring this training to encourage leaders in their feeding, literacy, and other compassionate/outreach ministries to be more attentive to the needs of those they encounter. Our hope for Arkansas’ children is that they have access to food now; literacy for greater success in the future; and have healthy, stable families to break cycles of poverty for the next generation. By making deeper relationships with those we serve who are food insecure, we can create opportunities for more stable family lives for this generation and those to come.

Dear Friends,

We are entering Welcome Back month at FUMC! We have something planned for each of the weekends in the month of October. COVID19 cases are finally declining and with the new vaccine update that is effective against the Omicron variant, we are returning to full activities and we want you to be a part of the renewal of our congregation. We have had several new families join us this year so we have a lot to celebrate.

The Sunday is World Communion Sunday. This is a Sunday set aside every year to celebrate that even though we have different denominations and different traditions, we are still one body, one Spirit, one Lord, and one God. Our Communion offering this week will go to UMCOR, specifically earmarked for the hurricane victims in Florida. We have more memorization cards so we if you wanted to polish up for Children's Sunday, you can pick yours up there.

Leaders had a great meeting with our representative from the Arkansas Methodist Foundation. In early 2023, we will bring them back for a presentation to anyone who wants to come. They have a specific program on estate planning and as we all get older, it is something we have to consider. We will be setting up to new accounts with the Foundation this month.

There will be a Church Council meeting on October 12th to approve our new committees and leadership for 2023. We will have all our Charge Conference documents ready for that meeting. Everything we do in that meeting is public information. Our Nominations Committee has been working hard to create new ministry teams to plan for the coming year and beyond. We will be setting goals for 2023-2024. We hope you will take an active role as we start another new chapter in the history of our church.

grace and peace,

Beth
