The Cultivator - April 2022
Fried Potatoes, Peppers, and Shallots
Nasty April Weather
Original and Mini CobraHead Giveaway
The CobraHead Newsletter
What's up, gardeners? Perhaps you're lucky enough to live in a place where April is NOT the cruelest month, but for upper midwestern gardeners, it's been a little rough. And by rough, I mean cold. The buds are late, the blooms are late, the planting is late, and the days have been so, so cold. Still, the signs of Spring life are all around us, and we live in eternal hope that warmer days will be upon us soon.

Currently, Noel is doing his best to catch up on the gardening prep that didn't happen in March, and Judy has been cleaning out the pantry by using up the last of 2021's potato harvest. Meanwhile, Andy has some production photos to share.

If you've done any shopping on our website in the past couple of weeks, you may have noticed a few changes. The US Postal Service recently added a hefty handling surcharge on all packages over 30" in length. UPS and FedEx already had similar surcharges in place, so it was really only a matter of time before the USPS implemented a similar policy. Unfortunately, this means we are no longer able to offer free shipping on our CobraHead Long Handles.

In welcome news, our CobraHead Mini Weeders are fully back in stock (and they still ship for free in the US!). Our Broadforks are also back in stock, but the supply is temporarily limited while the current production run is being completed.

Don't forget to enter our monthly giveaway (just reply to this email and request to be entered). As always, feel free to leave us any additional comments when you do!

Using up the last of last year's harvest, Judy knocked out an excellent fried potato breakfast using potatoes, sweet peppers and shallots from the garden.

Most years, April gives us a chance to get a good start in the garden, but Wisconsin was not favored with nice weather this spring. In fact, it was awful. Noel has been playing catch-up, and things are starting to shape up.

Andy's Photo Corner
A number of our manufacturing steps take place at Structures, Inc., a local machine shop just two miles down the road from us. On a recent trip to pick up inventory, I took these photos of our CobraHead Long Handle locking collars in production. The photo on the left shows the collars just after the holes for the set screw and roll pins have been drilled out. On the right are hundreds of semi-finished collars stacked up on a table. The next step of the process will send the collars to another vendor to have a protective coating applied.
