We had a great time at the inaugural Shawnee Main Street Shop & Stroll on May 5th. Oklahoma's got to Oklahoma, so the weather was chill-lee by the end of the evening. Cash registers can put off a lot of heat, if you keep ringing them, and you all did! Thank you to everyone who came out to support Shawnee's independent shops and restaurants.
Live music up and down Main from Blue Tradition Bluegrass, Crossroads/Guitar Vault, Kevin Hall and Friends with Marcus Johnson & Caden Collins, Mitch Wolf, Shawnee Highschool Jazz Band & Drumline, Rob Winchester, and Conjunto Joya Nueva. Thanks to the folks who came down to the library for the community jam. The restaurants were open and really adding that "extra" to their dishes (mine had glitter, because I'm pretty sure I'm Chef Mandi's favorite...) Doggie Spot gave away a free puppy to every third customer....no, not really (just seeing if you actually read the newsletter.)
Downtown Autobody gave away a $100 gas card. Our big winners of the evening were Amber Parsons with the $100+ gift basket from Harvest 5 Retail Co, and, drumroll, please, after very generous support from the downtown entrepreneurs, our $500 gift certificate turned into a $595 prize going to Tolby Littlehead! Mr. Littlehead just moved to Shawnee from Tulsa! Welcome!
If you are a lifelong resident of Shawnee, a new resident, or a guest, thank you, thank you, thank you! Get out there and explore what Shawnee has to offer!
