The Next Installment of the Black Lives Matter Film Series!
Say Her Name: The Life and Death of Sandra Bland
Watch on Amazon via Zoom!
Friday, August 28 @ 6:00 pm

With the current social conditions present in both local and global perspectives, it is essential now to educate ourselves and act deliberately to be anti-racist. Sanctuary UCC is partnering with Hillside Community Church to bring you the Black Lives Matter Film Series.

This collection of films will deconstruct and frame an understanding of the inherent power structures in America and the effects this debilitating system has on communities and people of color. Please join us in listening, understanding, and acting in dismantling what racism is in our community.

Discussion will begin at 8:30 PM - led by filmmaker, community organizer, and co-founder of Mobilize Medford, Crystal Chandler.

An investigation into what happened to political activist Sandra Bland, who died while in police custody.

"[It] works on multiple levels: as a quest for truth set in the real world, a portrait of a burgeoning civil rights activist cut down in her prime, and as a snapshot of the country at a time of highly volatile racial tensions."

"More than anything, the value in Say Her Name lies in its refusal to allow Bland to be silenced, even in death."

"A Theology of Threshing?"
Join Sanctuary and Hillside via Zoom!
Sunday, August 30 @ 10:30 am

The threshing floor is the place where the grain gets separated from the chaff. The intersection of childhood perspectives on bible stories with adult understandings about faith requires some threshing! Our artist photographed her own threshing as "a symbolic reference to the process of discerning where truth remains for me... The questioning is the journey; the questioning is the answer."

Join us for ARTChurch as we look for images that help us to "Stay-cation" in place - take stock, stand still on the threshing floor of your life - and separate the grain from the chaff - to discover what really matters.
