CROSSROADS NEWSLETTER
Greetings! we are pleased to present your First Presbyterian Church of Green Bay August 2020 newsletter.
BTS Drive for Tank
August 1-31

August 1-31 are the dates for the Tank Back to School supply drive! Tank Elementary School is one of the most ethnically diverse and needy schools in the Green Bay public school district. First Pres has "adopted" Tank and has a long history of supporting and interacting with the school and students.

Even if the children are not at school in-person part or full-time, they will need supplies at least as much at their homes. Every kid should have new pencils, crayons, glue, etc. for school. Find the list of supplies needed here. There will be lists and a table at the back of the Sanctuary to deposit your donations when you are here on Sundays (or any other day M-Th 9:30 am to 2:00 p.m.) through August 31. We can also shop for you if you'd prefer - checks should have the notation BTS supplies and if online, choose the "other" fund and note BTS. Thank you!

New Pantry Procedures Continue
August 11 & 25

The Pantry will continue to operate as it has during the pandemic, with changes in how the groceries are provided to our guests. The procedures will continue: everything will be pre-bagged and distributed at the entrance to the door on Howard St on normal pantry days (2nd and 4th Tuesdays, August 11 & 25 from 10 am to noon.) This provides for the least amount of person-to-person contact, as guests will pick up the bag(s) on the sidewalk table and bring them to their vehicles.
Pantry Requests

For August, the Pantry volunteers are requesting donations of healthy, non-sugared cereal please. If you would prefer to make a monetary donation, checks sent to the office should be made out to Presbyterian Pantry of Green Bay, or donations online ( www.firstpresgreenbay.org) should have the Pantry noted as the fund to which you are donating. You can also support the pantry through Amazon Smile: Shop at http://smile.amazon.com/ch/47-3189239 and AmazonSmile donates to Presbyterian Pantry of Green Bay! Thank you!
Feed My Starving Children

FMSC has made the difficult decision to suspend MobilePack events through early 2021, so, unfortunately, there will be no MobilePack in Green Bay this October. However, our local Green Bay MobilePack team plans to continue fundraising toward our new goal of 500,000 meals. All funds collected this year will be sent to FMSC, and they will use them to machine-pack meals. So, please stay tuned for fundraising opportunities coming soon, and keep FMSC and starving children in your prayers. Please consider a gift to FMSC through our church if you are able. Thank you!
Sunday Fellowship on ZOOM
11:00 a.m.

We are happy to be able to continue to provide a way for First Pres members to "get together and talk" online via Zoom. You received an email from Connie on 7/17 with the information for the upcoming Fellowship Sundays at 11:00 a.m. FYI, the Devotional Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. have been cancelled. Those who don't have the ability to go online will still be able to call in with the information provided. We hope that you will join us for the next best thing to being able to gather in person. It is great to see people's faces or hear their voices! (Marj Krause Crowl is on the phone in the photo.)
Esther Circle

Esther Circle will not begin with the new study until further notice. You can still order the study from Presbyterian Women entitled “Into the Light, Finding Hope Through Prayers of Lament” for $10 from Nancy Siewert, but there will not be any meetings at this time.
PNC Report

Bruce Deadman reports, on behalf of the members of the Pastor Nominating Committee, that they are continuing our work and hope to have a lot more to say soon.

Thank you for your continued patience.
