World Day of Prayer will be held this year at First Pres on
Friday, March 1
. Every year Church Women United invite Christian women in a region or country to write the service. This year Slovenia, in Europe, had that privilege. It is a beautiful ecumnenical worship service and all women and men are invited to attend.
Coffee fellowship at 9:30 a.m. followed by the service at 10:00 a.m.
A worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditions come together to observe a common day of prayer each year. Nancy Siewert, organizer of the local event on behalf of Presbyterian Women, said,
“All women and men of faith are welcome to attend this international service.”
Women, men, and children in more than 170 countries and regions will celebrate World Day of Prayer, Friday, March 1, 2019. This year, the women of the WDP Committee of Slovenia call us to worship considering the words “Come—Everything Is Ready.” The focus is on Jesus’ parable of the Great Dinner (in Luke 14:15–24). One phrase in the worship service especially captures the ideas we will explore: “Welcoming God, in your love, you have prepared a table for all, and you inspire us to open our hearts and homes to offer a place to the ones who are not yet at the table.”
