Looking Out for One Another

Dear Friends,

All month, we’ve been focusing on stewardship. The videos we’ve shared highlight some of our congregation’s vital ministries — ministries that matter. We’ve heard directly from community members about the profound impacts that come from sharing our resources through ministry.

All of this relates back to Pastor Annanda’s core message — that our life of faith is about staying true to Jesus’ words: “I give you a new commandment, that you look out for one another. Just as I have looked out for you, you should also look out for one another.“

Stewardship isn’t about repaying a debt to God, nor about earning a sense of belonging. We share our resources with our community of faith because we are truly committed to taking care of each other and our neighbors near and far. 

This Sunday we’ll dedicate our stewardship commitments for 2026. May God bless all these gifts to help our community of mutual care continue growing according to God’s grace!

Community IRL*: Ministries That Matter 
Stewardship Dedication is this Sunday, October 26

It’s been so good to be together in worship this month and hear stories about how people find community, and also serve the community, through the ministries of Sunnyvale Pres! 

Now we’re in the home stretch. Help us fill our progress poster! Our goal is to receive a financial pledge — no matter how large or small — from everyone. If you haven’t yet done so, you may pledge online, by mail, or in person. Thank you for your support!

In the October 19 worship service, people shared about mission and service opportunities in which they have participated through Sunnyvale Pres. Young Adult Event: Dinner & Games 
Saturday, November 1 • 5–8 pm • Coleman Room • RSVP

Mark your calendar for an evening of games, food, and fun. The main dish will be provided.  Please bring a side, dessert, or beverage to share if you can. Oh, and don't forget to bring a game if you’d like. Not sure if you qualify as a young adult? Come anyway!

All Saints’ Day

All Saints’ Day is a time when we remember and give thanks for all those who have passed from life unto life in the past year. The names of those Sunnyvale Pres members who have passed away this year will be read during the communion liturgy in church, and there will be an opportunity for you to say or note the names of others dear to you. Alviso Slough Trail Hike

Saturday, November 8 • 9 am • Map • RSVP

Enjoy the strange, interesting, and otherworldly terrain of the Alviso Slough Trail in Alviso Marina County Park. Carol will lead us on this flat, 4–5-mile hike. It may be a loop or an out-and-back hike, depending on the restoration work in progress.

Meet in the large Alviso Marina County Park parking lot at 9 am. Please RSVP if you’re planning to join us and/or would like to carpool.

Toy Drive

Sundays, November 9 & 16

Share the joy! PW is leading a toy drive for Sunnyvale Community Services. Bring new unwrapped toys for children or gift cards for teens to the collection table in Trinity Court on November 9 and 16. You can also drop them off in the church office during office hours through November 13.

Memorial Service
for Maggie Burklund

Saturday, November 15 • 10 am

Everyone is invited to the memorial service for Maggie Burklund at 10 am on Saturday, November 15 in the sanctuary. There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.

September is the sixth month of our 2025–2026 fiscal year.
