Greetings from Pastor Annanda

Dear Friends,

I am writing to you this morning from a retreat at Mount Madonna. The breeze is gentle. The sun is warm, and a hummingbird just stopped by to offer greetings before going about the rest of their day.

My time in this place has emphasized the importance of rest and time with friends.

Beloveds, I hope you gift yourself — even when life seems to demand otherwise — the gift of sabbath. It is so precious and vital at this time.

Yours,

Pastor Annanda

Weekend Conference

Building Communities of Peace:

Conversations with Peacemaking Partners

from Korea and Ireland

Friday, June 20–Sunday, June 22 • Register

Feeling troubled by the hostile rhetoric of world leaders? Dismayed about all the dehumanization and division? Please join us for an in-person weekend of discussions and learning around peacemaking and community-building.

During his recent sabbatical, Pastor Hardy spent time meeting with leaders actively engaged in peacemaking in Korea and Ireland — countries that have known deep division. We’ve invited these same leaders to bring their experience and knowledge to Sunnyvale so that we may learn from them and become better equipped to engage in peacemaking efforts locally and globally.

We’ve intentionally carved out opportunities during meal times throughout the weekend for conversations among attendees and speakers — time for you to form connections that might further peacemaking efforts within the community. This event is open to the public, so please invite folks you know who care about justice and peace in the world.

Join us for a season of Pride!

We'll kick off the season on Sunday, June 8 at 7 pm with a family-friendly drag concert by nationally-known artist Flamy Grant. This event is open to the public, so invite your friends and neighbors.

Come to the Sunnyvale Pride Fest on Saturday, June 14 at 11 am at Plaza del Sol in downtown Sunnyvale — a community-wide celebration including music, entertainment, a drag show, and more. Our church is organizing the event, so please volunteer to help if you can!

Check our website for more details on upcoming Pride events such as Affirming Church classes, San Francisco and Silicon Valley Pride celebrations, and our Queer-led worship and Out Loud Choir!

Children’s Ministry Updates

As we say goodbye to Jenna, the Children’s Ministry team, along with program staff and session in consultation with Ministry Architects, are working quickly and faithfully in discerning our next steps. In the meantime, we want to assure you that VBS will continue as planned and Children’s Church will resume weekly beginning June 1.

If you are a Children’s Ministry family at Sunnyvale Pres and no one’s reached out to you yet, please contact Rich Pak

Please also join us on Sunday, June 22 at 11:30 am for Children’s & Youth Town Hall in the Coleman Room.
