As re-opening plans are underway for educational programs across Texas, the Statewide Outreach Center (SOC) stands ready to serve families and educators. Whether it will be an online, hybrid, or face-to-face approach where you are, this edition offer resource that contribute to the whole-child development. A video series on behavior management offer support as deaf and hard of hearing children continue to adapt to the pandemic. Additionally, professionals can find lesson plans and training to ensure a quality and accessible education. All our resources are helpful whether working virtually or in a face-to-face classroom. We’re excited to welcome two new project managers onboard - Jennifer and Aaron – who are already working hard with our team to ensure that you are equipped for the 2020-2021 school year. With the SOC team, along with your dedication to students who are deaf and hard of hearing children, I am confident we will maximize success for all Texas students. Stay healthy and stay safe!
Jennifer Prigge joins our Family Services unit as a project manager. She comes to us from Fort Bend ISD, where she worked as an administrator for the Brazoria-Fort Bend Regional Day School Program for the Deaf. Previously, she taught at Texas School for the Deaf.

Aaron Mowell will be leading Enrichment Services as project manager. He has a combined 10 years of experience working with Discovery Retreat and Summer Camps & Programs. Recently, Aaron taught middle school Social Studies and STEM at Texas School for the Deaf. 
Resources for Families
A seven- part video series, A Quarantine Toolbox for Parents and Guardians of Children who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing offers “tips and tricks” for families and professionals to use during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn how to manage conflict or behavior challenges from Trish Grooms, a seasoned counselor who has worked for decades with families and students who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Our fourth Summer Language Labs (SLL) wrapped up for SEE families, and our first SLL for ASL families. SLL is a break from our Fall/Spring classes. SLL allows families to meet each other in a fun, relaxing, signing environment (on Zoom) with a Family Signs instructor on various topics.
