Hey grads! The Sunnyvale Pres community wants to celebrate you on Promotion Sunday, June 4. This includes everyone promoting from elementary school, 8th grade, high school, and all post-secondary degrees (AA, BS, professional degrees, etc.). Are you the parent, grandparent, or friend of a person who identifies as LGBTQIA+? We have an amazing group that meets monthly to learn together and offer a safe space to ask questions and offer care and support. We are changing our meeting time to the 1st Monday of the month and we would love for you to join us. Please email Carol to be added to our invite list.

God calls us into relationship even before we have any understanding of what is happening. That’s why we baptize infants. Part of being the church together is making sure that God’s call to relationship stays real for children as they grow. 

Our young people have a particular chance to respond to God’s loving invitation through Confirmation Class. This is a process by which they get to explore their own faith, learn about the church and our community, and decide whether church membership is right for them. 

This year we have one student confirmand, Josiah Hejmanowski. Please join us for worship on May 7 — in person or online — as we affirm Josiah’s commitment to follow Christ as a member of our community!

Rev. Dr. Jim Bennett, Parish Associate at Sunnyvale Pres and professor of religious studies at Santa Clara University, will be leading this two-session class discussing the very timely topic of Christian nationalism. Come join us as we learn together how this movement has taken hold and how we should respond as followers of Jesus.

If you’re going through grief, loneliness, divorce, hospitalization, disability, job loss, or other life difficulties, Stephen Ministers are here to offer a compassionate, listening ear. We are specially- trained members of the congregation who listen, care, and support you when life gets tough.

March is the last month of our fiscal year, FY 2022–23. Church income of $1,272K for the fiscal year was offset by church spending of $1,571K, resulting in a church deficit of $(299)K. The outreach groups (PELC and The Music School) contributed $266K for the year, returning to pre-pandemic levels. The resulting combined deficit for the year is $(33)K. While still a deficit, this is considerably better than we had budgeted due to cost-saving initiatives and the outreach groups’ contributions. 

Looking ahead to next fiscal year, we continue to be grateful for your financial gifts that support our church programs and operations, sustain our wonderful community, and support our mission and service giving.
