World Cares Center April 2022 Newsletter
April is National Financial Capability Month

Dear Friend,

March was a busy month in advance of Hurricane Season. The March Ready Responders Roundtable hosted Kimberly of FEMA who discussed community preparedness and joined by Jill Cornell of NYCEM. A big thanks to our guest speakers and attendees.

We are half way through our special four part Lunch and Learn training on Hurricane Preparedness and Flood Response. Thus far all sessions were well attended. There is still time to join in to learn new protocols on how to keep staff, volunteers and constituents safe as we prepare for hurricane season and recover from it's impact.

Looking forward, April is Financial Capability month and World Cares Center's ReadyResponders Roundtable on April 7th hosts James von Bischoffshausen of TD Bank to share valuable tips on financial sustainability in Disasters. The Ready Responders Roundtable is a forum for leaders to connect and share resources.

Thursday April 19th our Lunch and Learn training in partnership with Regional Ready Rockaway and features a customized training developed on Evacuation that includes how to evacuate a high rise building.

Our calendar of events and training can be found on our website

In keeping with our forward thinking collaborative values, World Cares Center has launched a Disaster Volunteer Credential program advisory board. This highly collaborative initiative builds from our current training program, integrates partner objectives and creates a credentialing program for volunteers and organizations that reduces the time and resources needed to ensure volunteers are ready to respond safely. If you are interested creating a cutting edge, highly collaborative system, please email me at [email protected].

Lastly, Please join Muriel Stockdale for the opening reception of her solo exhibition, OUR FLAG - Restitch the Untied States, Friday, April 1st, at ChaShaMa Gallery - 1 Brooklyn Bridge Park from 5:30-8:30pm. See below for more detail.
