A More Inclusive Liturgy

Dear Kris,

Starting this Sunday, you might notice some wording changes in the Lord's Prayer and Doxology, updating both to reflect our congregation’s core values. Expanding the traditionally “divine masculine” language to embrace a wider range of expressions helps our worship resonate with all members and honors the fullness of God. After thoughtful consideration and discussion, this change was warmly approved by the Worship Committee, affirming our shared commitment to creating a welcoming and meaningful spiritual home for everyone. Together, we continue to grow in faith and community, celebrating the many ways we all experience and connect with the divine.

Changes you may notice:

  • The Lord's Prayer: “Our Father” becomes “Our Creator” and “kingdom” becomes “kin-dom" (which means “commonwealth”)
  • Doxology: “Father, Son, and Holy Ghost” becomes “Creator, Christ, and Holy Ghost”
  • Apostles’ Creed: masculine language for God will remain

Cheers to living into our values at this historic time,

Pastor Annanda

In a neighborhood where many see only brokenness, City Hope SF is committed to building a beloved community.

Good News for Church Staffing!

Photo of Peggy and Carol smiling

The work of the church doesn’t just happen on Sunday mornings. Our staff works all week long to ensure that our worship, meetings, events, and programs continue with stability and strength.

So, I’m very happy to give you two positive staffing updates:

Carol Heath, Director of Community Life and our Acting Church Administrator, has agreed to continue her excellent work with our facilities and admin staff. Her position will now be Director of Community Life and Facilities. This combined role will enhance her ability to support the various community events and programs that make our congregational life so vibrant and engaging.

To make this work sustainable, Peggy Switchenko is returning as Administrative Generalist, managing the financial and administrative aspects previously tasked to the Church Administrator.

If you see Carol or Peggy, congratulate them on their new positions — and please thank them for their important contributions to our shared ministry!

Gratefully,

Hardy
