Dear Kris,

Join us on most Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm for intimate worship experiences. The Modern Worship Collective (2nd and 4th Wednesdays) invites interaction with God and community through powerful contemporary music and engaging participation. Evensong (3rd Wednesdays) draws people into God’s presence through Taizé-style music, deep silences, and Communion.

Matthew Black Concert

We’re excited to welcome singer/songwriter Matthew Black! Matt will join the band and lead us in a few new songs during our regular MWC worship time. After a 15-minute break, Matt will give a concert of his original music.

Matt has a connection to Sunnyvale Pres: his mom Judy Black was a long-time member of our congregation.

After almost a year with Children’s Ministry, Emily Macway, our assistant director, will be leaving to continue her teaching career. We are so excited for Emily and her partner as they move on to their next stage in life in San Francisco. Emily has been a tremendous blessing to our ministry, playing a crucial role in the planning and execution of our Advent, Easter Eggstravaganza, and VBS festivities. We will miss her dearly!

All-Ages Worship

Readers needed!

Children and youth are invited to be scripture readers in August during All-Ages Worship. Whether you’ve delivered the scripture reading before or this would be the first time, you are invited! You will receive the Bible passage several days in advance to practice, and we will be there for you, with you, on Sunday morning.

Volunteer Opportunities

with Children’s Ministry

Children’s Ministry is looking for volunteers:

• Co-teachers for Sunday STARS class (3s, 4s & kinders)
• Teachers for Sunday in-person Children’s Church (grades 1–5)
• Co-leaders for our Wednesday night OASIS program
• Folks to help “behind the scenes” with preparing crafts and mission projects and other miscellaneous support work

Coal Mine Ridge Loop Hike

Saturday, August 12 • 9 am • RSVP

Join us for a hike in Portola Valley on this 4.5-mile loop with 748 ft. elevation. We’ve done this hike before; if you didn’t get a chance to try the swings, now’s your chance!

Meet at the corner of Willowbrook Dr. and Alpine Rd. There’s parking along Willowbrook Dr. or a small parking area on Alpine Rd.  

We’ll gather afterward at nearby Robert’s Market for lunch. Please RSVP to hiking@sunnyvalepres.com if you’re coming!

Fiscal year-to-date through June, the church is reporting a deficit and the outreach groups are reporting a surplus. Church spending of $405K was offset by church income of $401K, resulting in a church deficit of $4K. The outreach groups (PELC and The Music School) have contributed $11K year-to-date, resulting in a combined surplus of $7K. June is the third month of our fiscal year.
