Making a Joyful Noise with the Out Loud Choir
Thursdays through August 21 • 7–8:30 pm • Register
& Sing in worship on August 24 (optional)
| | |
Dear Friends,
The Out Loud Choir is in full swing, rehearsing every Thursday from 7–8:30 pm here at church as we prepare for the Queer-led Worship Service on August 24. This community singing opportunity is open to LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies alike, and we’re thrilled to share that 53 singers have already registered!
There are still three rehearsals left, and it’s not too late to join this year’s choir. All voices are welcome — no auditions or prior experience required. If you’d like to be part of this joyful, affirming musical experience, just register online and then come join us on Thursday!
The Out Loud Choir is more than just singing — it’s about celebrating love, inclusion, and community. Whether you’re joining in song or cheering from the pews on August 24, we hope you’ll be part of this meaningful experience.
Joyfully,
Cody Scott

NEW! Youth & Parent Groups
1st & 3rd Sundays beginning September 7
Dinner @ 5 pm, Coleman Room
Breakout Groups @ 5:45–7 pm
| | |
Students in grades 6–12 (and parents!) are invited to Youth and Parent Groups, designed to help families grow in faith, build stronger connections, and have fun together. Each evening includes a shared dinner, activities, and time to relax and connect before breaking into small groups.
The 6th–7th graders will have age-appropriate discussions to help them grow and explore their faith. The 8th–12th graders will dive deeper into what it means to follow Jesus, while asking big questions, building community, and preparing for Confirmation. Parents will gather for conversation, encouragement, and spiritual growth.

This summer, we’ve witnessed Alice Chegwidden, our Youth and Children’s Ministry Intern, step up with hard work, flexibility, caring, and good humor to create vibrant and joyful programs for our families. Alice was an essential part of Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, and even CARAVAN.
Thank you, Alice! We wish you many blessings as you continue in your studies at Colorado State University!

Reflecting with Gratitude
As my internship comes to an end, I’m incredibly grateful for the people I’ve met and all that I’ve learned here at Sunnyvale Pres. I’ve loved drawing on my own experiences growing up in this church and now “paying it forward” to the next generation.
Thank you to the families and staff for welcoming me so warmly and for allowing me to learn and grow alongside your amazing kids. Special thanks also to Rich Pak for trusting me with this role and supporting me every step of the way. I have seen God working wonders within our church this summer!
Blessings,
Alice

Come with us to Grace Presbyterian Church in Walnut Creek to hear from Dr. Rhashell Hunter, the author of the 2025–26 Horizons PW Bible Study. This is a nice opportunity to gather with other PW members from churches around the Bay Area.
Carpools will be arranged; lunch included. Email the PW leaders with questions, or download the registration form.

Volunteers Needed in Youth Ministry
This is a great opportunity to support and encourage the next generation as they grow in faith. You might be surprised by how much you’ll grow alongside them! To sign up, email Rev. Rich Pak.
Please note, all adult volunteers are required to be Safe Church trained in order to foster a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. The next training is August 24.

For many years, Sunnyvale Pres has supported the youth and families of our wider community through our financial donations to the Bill Wilson Center. Here’s another way you can help! BWC operates the North County Family Shelter, a congregate housing site in Sunnyvale that currently needs diapers and personal care items. Donations through their Amazon Wishlist are greatly appreciated and will benefit families in Santa Clara County. In-person donations are also welcome Mon–Fri from 9 am–5 pm. Thank you for your generosity!
