The Gift of Renewal in God’s Spirit

Dear Kris,

As a church community, we do our best to model Jesus’s love, peace, and justice in ways that make a real-world impact. At times, it’s easy to feel limited by what we can do and the resources we have to offer — forgetting that life in Christ’s ministry is not primarily about us. It is God who calls us, and thankfully God provides more than we could ever imagine.

That provision includes sending us gifted leaders like Pastor Annanda (she/they). As we enter this new chapter of our ministry, may we remember that it’s the Spirit who called her/them here — God’s life-giving Spirit that has long supported and sustained us.

In this time of renewal, may we all be open to new and great and miraculous things being revealed to us, and accomplished in and through us. I can’t wait to witness how God’s Spirit will move!

With great hope,

Hardy

Stories from Sabbatical

Sunday, March 2 • 11:30 am • Fellowship Hall & Online

During Pastor Hardy’s sabbatical travels last fall, he dove deeply into the peacemaking and historical conflict resolution work being done in South Korea and Ireland. What impacted him most were people’s stories about their everyday lives, identities, and communities — island towns being lost to military-industrial development, women struggling to support their families post-war, people stuck between national identities, and the courage of those who stood up for peace in the face of hostility.

Join us for a light lunch as Pastor Hardy shares these stories and more!

Last Call for Church Directory Photos

Photo directory page

Everyone is encouraged to participate in our simple, homegrown church directory to help us all feel connected. If you haven’t already had your photo taken, find Carol Heath near the entrance to Fellowship Hall to have your photo taken and verify your information. If you’d prefer to send us your own photo, that’s fine too. For families, please send individual photos and a group photo for your family. Questions? Email Carol Heath.

Visual Impairment Stickers

Sometimes it can be difficult for people with visual impairments to see who is in front of them, so it helps if you identify yourself when speaking to them. To help facilitate this, special nametag stickers designed by our macular degeneration support group are available for any congregation member who is visually impaired. These stickers are available at the Welcome Booth on Sunday mornings.

Book cover of Liberating Spiritualities Reimagining Faith in t he Americas by Christopher Tirres

How can spirituality serve as a catalyst for social transformation and healing in an age of darkness and despair? What can we do to cultivate more inclusive, justice-centered spirituality?

Join the conversation at Christopher Tirres’s upcoming book launch. Liberating Spiritualities: Reimagining Faith in the Américas explores these questions by drawing on the rich traditions of liberation theology and philosophy in the Americas. Christopher attends Sunnyvale Pres and is a professor of religious studies at SCU.

Please stop by Jake’s Pizza afterward to greet the pastors!

Act Now! Push Back on Project 2025’s Policy Agenda

From the PC(USA) Office of Public Witness • Take action

Sunnyvale Pres strives to answer God’s call to take action for social, racial, and environmental justice, issues concerning the poor and elderly, as well as to be fully open and affirming of the LGBTQ community and provide a safe space for all. The policies laid out in Project 2025 directly oppose our beliefs. Let us each take a moment to push back against these policies by making our voices heard by our elected officials!
