Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

Happy Independence Day! Have fun, stay safe, enjoy family and friends, and be aware of safety information about fireworks and the laws regarding illegal fireworks. The Police Department, Public Works Department, North County Fire Authority, Parks, Beaches, and Recreation Department, as well as other City employees from other departments will all be out working hard to ensure a safe, clean, and fun experience for everyone. Give them a wave or shout out if you’re out and about and see them.

As always, go safely this week and please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica!

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager
IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Volunteers Needed – Post 4th of July Cleanup
We all enjoy celebrating the 4th of July, and there’s nothing more patriotic than saving our fish, sharks, turtles, whales, and snowy plovers by picking up this eventful day’s litter. Let’s all do our part to make this ‘land of the free… free of debris!’
Every July, the Pacific Beach Coalition organizes a team of Earth Heroes who take action by cleaning up our streets and beaches after the celebratory traditions of the 4 th of July. Fireworks litter and debris on the streets and from our yards can blow in the wind into San Pedro Creek, Milagra Creek, the Secret Waterfall, or our ocean.

Take part in this great cause. Find the dates and places we are going to be working here. Fill out your Online Waiver Form and join our team for this year’s Post 4th of July cleanups!

Plan Pacifica – We Want to Hear from You
You are invited to help Plan Pacifica's future at a series of community meetings to discuss the General Plan, Coastal Plan, and new Sharp Park Specific Plan!

In early 2019, the City of Pacifica began the simultaneous process of updating its General Plan and Local Coastal Program, and developing a new specific plan for the Sharp Park area. The General Plan is the City's most important planning tool, and has not been comprehensively updated since 1980. Now, it's time to create a new plan which will guide the City for the next 20 years or more. Through these meetings, we are asking YOU to tell us what is important to you. The first meeting was held this week, with great success. There are still four more and details of dates and locations can be found below. You can learn more about this project at www.planpacifica.org.

Whether you are a resident and/or work in a given area, or an invested resident from another one, everyone is welcome to help Plan Pacifica! This event is FREE! Please RSVP to help us better plan. Child care and a light meal will be provided at each meeting. Doors open at 5:45 pm. RSVP here.

BACKGROUND
PG&E provides natural gas and electric service to approximately 16 million people in northern and central California. On December 13, 2018, PG&E submitted an application requesting CPUC approval to increase its gas, electric distribution, and electric generation revenues by $1.058 billion (or 12.4 percent) in 2020 over current revenues; by $454 million (or 4.7 percent) in 2021; and by $486 million (or 4.8 percent) in 2022.

PG&E proposes to increase rates to meet precautionary measures to further reduce wildfire risks, including taking additional steps to harden infrastructure and increase vegetation management. According to PG&E, key drivers of the 2020 revenue requirement (the total amount of revenue needed to pay all operating costs and capital-related costs) increase include community wildfire safety program (6.8 percent); liability insurance (3.2 percent); and core gas and electric operations (2.4 percent). The 2020 proposed increase translates to a bill impact of 6.4 percent, or $10.57 per month, for PG&E’s typical residential electric and gas customer.

While a quorum of Commissioners and/or their staff may attend, no official action will be taken on this matter at the public forums.
If specialized accommodations are needed to attend, such as non-English or sign language interpreters, please contact the CPUC’s Public Advisor’s Office at [email protected] or toll free at 866-849-8390 at least three business days in advance of the public forum. For more information on public forums, please see www.cpuc.ca.gov/PPH.
