Greetings!
At the City Council meeting coming up on November 9, the Council will hear a presentation and discuss the methodology that the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) is recommending for determining cities’ fair share of housing needs throughout the region. Called the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA), the draft methodology (which is currently open for public comment to ABAG) suggests that Pacifica’s required allocation would increase to 1,933 units for the 2023-2031 time period, which is a 367% increase over the previous allocation period, which was 413 units. Cities across the region are seeing similar allocation increases. Regional housing pressures are intense, as are pressures for affordability; background and more information can be read in the following report from ABAG: Read the RHNA Proposed Methodology for San Francisco Bay Area, 2023 - 2031 - Released October 2020. Please tune in to Monday City Council meeting if you are interested in learning more or wish to provide public input.
Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager
