This year the City will continue to use the FlashVote electronic survey tool to receive community input on numerous important issues in the City. A new poll will be fielded next week. The surveys are quick and easy, only requiring one minute of your time, and provide statistically representative information to the City to be used as one of numerous sources of data for the City Council to consider when making important policy decisions. If you haven’t already, please opt in to receive the FlashVote electronic polls. And more information is available here about FlashVote.

Join the City of Pacifica for the third virtual Community Workshop for the Beach Boulevard Infrastructure Resiliency Project. This community workshop is happening on February 4th at 6 pm and you can RSVP and learn more at: CityofPacifica.org/beachresiliency.  

The Beach Boulevard Infrastructure Resiliency Project aims to replace the current seawall along Beach Boulevard to protect public infrastructure, recreational activities, numerous homes, businesses and the community at large. This third workshop will go into more detail on the Project’s Design Alternatives. The City wants to hear from you and collect input that will inform the Project moving forward.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans Bay Area) will conduct its annual mandatory emergency response drill at the State Route 1 (SR-1) Tom Lantos (Devil’s Slide) Tunnels. The mandatory seven-hour emergency response drill begins Tuesday, January 26 at 9:00 PM and concludes on Wednesday, January 27 at 4:00 AM. The exercise is weather permitting.

For the safety of crews and the public, northbound and southbound traffic lanes on SR-1 through the Tom Lantos (Devil’s Slide) Tunnels will be closed during the exercise.

During the tunnel closures, the following detours between Pacifica and Half Moon Bay will be in effect. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be on scene to assist motorists:

The emergency management exercise will be a coordinated effort including the CHP, San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, Pacifica Fire and Police Departments, California Office of Emergency Services, Cal-Fire and other first responders. This exercise will include fire simulations, crash simulations, and smoke.
