Greetings!
At the upcoming City Council meeting Monday, February 22, the Council will discuss the conceptual design alternatives for remediating/renovating the Civic Center buildings due to the health and safety conditions that have caused closure of numerous offices at the Center. The Council will also discuss potential Police Department community engagement tools.
Keep your eye out early next week for a letter to the community from Mayor Beckmeyer providing current Coronavirus-related information, such as business grant resources, vaccines, and more. There continues to be a lot of information to process each week in our ongoing battle with COVID-19, and the City’s goal is to help you get the information you need.
Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager

Unity Project /Four Directions Mural
|
|
The Mural Subcommittee of the Beautification Advisory Committee (BAC) met on January 29, 2021 via Zoom. The members reviewed a proposal from the Unity Project group to create murals on the walls of the restroom facility at the north end of Beach Parking Lot A at Linda Mar Beach on Highway 1 in Pacifica. The applicants are a collaboration of four artists; Danielle Gustavson, Jeffery Wong, Jason Budowski, and Robert Louthan. The Sanchez Art Center has agreed to serve as fiscal sponsor for the project. The Mural Subcommittee is recommending approval of the Unity Mural Project and is forwarding the proposal to the BAC for their review and approval. The Unity Project understands implementation of the mural will begin once funding has been obtained.
In accordance with the BAC’s ‘Keep Pacifica Beautiful through Public Art’(KPB) policy and implementation guidelines, it is now in order for the BAC to set a date for a public hearing to allow community input and comment on the project. The Public Hearing date will be set for the next BAC meeting scheduled on March 3, 2021 via Zoom. This will ensure compliance with the 10-day public notification period as described in the KPB Implementation Guidelines.
Follow this link to review the proposed images and to read more about the project.

Ever Wanted to Name a Trail?
|
|
The City of Pacifica’s Open Space and Parkland Advisory Committee (OSPAC) is seeking public input on naming a one-mile section of trail that falls within the area known as “Cattle Hill”, beginning at Fassler Gate and continuing to the border of Sweeney Ridge. This trail lies within Raymaytush tribal ancestral homelands and OSPAC seeks to name the trail in honor of the 10,000+ years of historical Raymaytush people’s use of this trail. OSPAC has worked with Raymaytush tribal members to create a short-list of trail names for consideration.
