Greetings!
Recent Coronavirus case numbers are not trending in the right direction in San Mateo County. While we remain one of only a few populous counties that are not on the
State’s Monitoring List, which requires stricter health orders, we are on the brink of joining that Monitoring List. The age bracket with the fastest case growth is 20-29 year olds. If ever there was a time to double-down on the
3 Ws – Wear a mask, Wash your hands, Watch your distance, now’s the time. Please do your part, and ensure that your children and other family members and friends do their part. Together let’s beat this and show how we’re #PacificaStrong. Check out all the informative updates below.
Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager

District Based City Council Elections
|
|
|
On December 17, 2018, the City of Pacifica adopted
Ordinance No. 839-C.S.
approving the transition from at-large to by-district elections for the election of Pacifica City Councilmembers beginning with the general municipal election in November 2020 and thereafter. With district-based elections, each of five councilmembers will be elected by voter's within that candidate's district. This November, District 1 and District 4 will hold elections for City Council seats.
What Does This Mean?
This means that you may not have a Councilmember to vote for in November. It depends on where you live.

Sirkka Niukkanen Senior Swim Program
|
|
Pacifica Senior Services are introducing a new aquatics pilot program. The
Sirkka Niukkanen Senior Swim Program will begin Monday, July 20. This program is designed to subsidize the difference between the current COVID-19 fee and the pre-COVID-19 senior fee.
i.e. Current COVID-19 Senior Drop in fee: $10.00
Pre-COVID-19 Senior Drop in Discount fee $ 5.00
Sirkka Niukkanen Senior Program subsidy $ 5.00
This program is for Pacifica resident seniors 60+ years of age. Senior participants will continue to pay $5.00 per swim and must reserve a lane Monday-Saturday 8am -2pm through the online reservation system, signupgenius.com. Swim slots are one hour (45 min. swim) and COVID-19 aquatics restrictions must be followed. In order to qualify for this program you will need to show a photo ID showing both your birth date and address the first time you swim.
This program is made possible due to the generosity of Sirkka Niukkanen. Sirkka was a long time Pacifican and before her passing on September 10, 2018 she arranged for her estate to be bequeathed to Pacifica Senior Services to develop and support new programs that would benefit Pacifica Seniors.

It's Wildfire Season
Time to Talk Public Safety Power Shutoff
|
|
|
High temperatures, extreme dryness and record-high winds have created conditions in our state where any spark at the wrong time and place can lead to a major wildfire. If severe weather threatens a portion of the electric system, it may be necessary for PG&E to turn off electricity in the interest of public safety. This is known as a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).
