The Pacifica Police Department’s education and enforcement efforts around the beaches regarding the Shelter in Place, Physical Distancing, and Face Coverings is continuing this weekend. In response to last weekend’s efforts, which required ordering 275 visitors off Pacifica State Beach who were visiting from more than 5-miles away, and identified that approximately 45% of cars parked in popular coastal access locations were registered to houses more than 5-miles away, the City has prohibited parking along Westline Drive, Clarendon between Beach Blvd. and Palmetto, along Mori Point Rd and Bradford Way near the Mori Point trailhead, Roberts Road, and Crespi Dr near the community center. Extra police officers will be out beginning today. These closures, which have been promoted widely, are intended to help keep out-of-town visitors away for the time being, creating a safer and healthier environment during the Health Officer’s orders. Thank you for your understanding, and your own adherence to the continuing health orders. For some quick and fun video questions and answers, check out Mayor Martin’s most recent video public service announcements!

In other news, the Pacifica community is doing great with its Census 2020 response rate at 67.7%, however we need to do better! Please take the couple minutes required to complete the survey, and encourage your network of contacts to do the same. Locally-received federal funding depends on it!

A limited number of small business grants of up to $10,000 for qualified San Mateo County small business owners impacted by California’s Shelter in Place order implemented to curtail the spread of COVID-19 are becoming available.

The small business grant application portal is tentatively scheduled to open on Monday, April 27, 2020 at 12:00pm. Learn more to see if you are eligible and get prepared before the application portal opens. Funds are limited and there will be heavy demand.

In an effort to be prepared Pacificans Care, Pacifica’s community foundation, recently established an emergency fund to address the needs of Pacifica’s core social service agencies in the event of an earthquake, flood, or other disaster that interrupts normal day to day activities of Pacificans for a prolonged period of time. Little did the Pacificans Care board know that the Coronavirus pandemic would suddenly impact Pacifica in a significant way!

To address the critical needs facing the community due to the consequences of the Coronavirus pandemic, Pacificans Care has launched the Pacificans Care Emergency Fund ‘COVID CAN’T STOP GOOD’ Campaign asking Pacificans to ‘Help Us Help Pacifica- Now’ to aid those community members most in need.

The goal is to raise $10,000 by May 15th.

Your donation will provide groceries for families and housing assistance for those who are struggling to pay their rent through funds provided to the Pacifica Resource Center. Your contribution will also provide Meals on Wheels to home-bound seniors and ‘Grab and Go’ lunches Monday through Friday for seniors prepared by Pacifica Senior Services.

The 2020 Left Coast Annual ( LCA) Exhibition was scheduled to open at Sanchez Art Center, Pacifica, on Friday April 10, 2020. As the world turned upside down with the spread of COVID-19, it became clear that the exhibition would not be able to take place in-person as communities responded to shelter-in-place orders to protect public health. Artists and Sanchez Art Center Staff, (Janet Barker, Program Manager and Cindy Abbott, Executive Director) pivoted to create this first show in new virtual galleries.

Pacifica Senior Services is offering a take-out option during the period of City enforcement of “social distancing” precautions. During this period, seniors who are 60+ years old are welcome to come by the Community Center and take a meal to go.

We are currently operating from 11:30am-12:30pm Monday through Friday. Drive through pick up is available during these hours on the East Side Parking Driveway of the Pacifica Community Center (follow Yellow Sandwich Board for pickup location).
