Do What Matters
Greetings!

"Service Before Self," it's one of those Air Force core values that has always stuck with me over the years. If I'm being honest, they've all stuck, but that's besides the point.

Granted, we're not all in the military; but we are all called to serve.

There's something about sacrificing small things, like time or treasure, for a worthy cause. Some of us even make sacrifices for perfect strangers.

This weekend, I plan to serve at a Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa project called "Over the Edge". It's a really cool event where adventurously-giving-citizens rappel down the side of the Downtown Hilton--all in an effort raise funds for the charity.

As a Leadership Council member, I felt compelled to rappel. But I can't scale the building this year. So I'm excited to volunteer!
I say all of that to say this:
There is honor in simply showing up.

Below you'll find many ways to "show up" for The Portico this month. There are events to attend, community service projects and ways you can sign-up to volunteer for any opportunity.

Here's the shortlist:

Noon THIS Sun., Apr. 10 | Community Meal at The Portico
6:30 a.m. Sun., Apr. 17 | Sunrise Service at Water Works Park
6 p.m. Fri., Apr. 22 | Art + Open Mic Night at The Portico Cafe
7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Sat., Apr. 30 | BIG Habitat Build Day

Life is short. Do what matters.

Mark your calendars and show up for our cafe and campus. We all have a mission to serve.

Peace,
