"Making the Ask: What Actually Works

Nonprofit Legal Compliance Online Workshop Series, NC Center for Nonprofits, April 17 and 24, 10 am to 11:30 am, $75. Nonprofit staff and board members need to be aware of a wide range of existing laws and regulations that affect their organizations’ operations. To help you better understand these laws, our friends at the Center are offering a two-part workshop series on legal compliance for nonprofits. The first part on April 17 will cover nonprofit corporate governance, charitable solicitation, fundraising laws, and employment laws. The second part on April 24 will cover federal and state tax compliance issues for 501(c)(3) nonprofits as well as laws and regulations related to federal and state grants and contracts. Register today!

Save the Date for the Triad's Regional Public Policy Conversaion on June 15! We're excited to partner with the NC Center for Nonprofits, One Sector One Voice Triad, the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium and Reslience High Point to co-host this conversation that will provide the latest information about recent federal executive actions that could affect nonprofits and a preview of what nonprofits can expect during the 2026 short session of the NC General Assembly. And none of us know individually what all of us know collectively. Our schools need all of us--right now and in the coming years. Since 2008, Christmas for the City has grown in what is considered by many to be Winston-Salem's largest annual community celebration, with 8,000-10,000 neighbors from every background gathering together. Organized by Love Out Loud, a HandsOn Supporting Partner, plans for CFTC2026 are already underway, and they are interested in having new nonprofit partners join them. Will We See You at Winston-Salem Foundation's Annual Gathering on May 18th? With a theme of Poetry, Place, Possibility, the Foundation’s annual gathering on May 18^th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Benton Convention Center will welcome Ada Limón, award-winning author and the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States. Limón’s poetry reminds us of our deep connection to one another and to the natural world, even in challenging and divisive times. In a keynote address and in conversation, she’ll share her unique insights on the power of engaging with the arts and with nature. Individual tickets to the Community Meeting are $25. Crosby Scholars, Program Specialist II Crosby Scholars, a HandsOn Supporting Partner, is looking for a Program Specialist II for Grades 6-10. This position supports the Program Assistant Director in delivering Middle and High School Programs by providing accurate information and personalized services to students and families. The role includes assisting with recruitment, coordinating engagement initiatives and academies, tracking student participation and completion of program requirements, responding to program inquiries and questions, and collaborating with internal staff teams and school staff. It also involves creating and hosting presentations and small and large group events, managing program and event logistics and occasionally supervising volunteers. The Landlord Engagement Specialist serves as a strategic liaison between United Way of Forsyth County's housing programs and property owners to increase access to safe, affordable rental housing for vulnerable populations. This role focuses on landlord recruitment, relationship management, housing identification, inspection coordination, and systems-level collaboration to support housing placement and stabilization outcomes. Pay is $22/hr.

The Supportive Services for Veterans' Families (SSVF) Case Manager provides intensive, housing-focused case management services to veterans and veteran household, including single veterans and veterans with families, experiencing homelessness or housing instability. This role is responsible for assessment, service planning, coordination of temporary financial assistance and ongoing support to ensure housing stabilization and long-term housing retention in accordance with VA SSVF guidelines.
