Coronavirus precautions dictate cancellations
All Church-related activities and meetings suspended until April 5
Dear Friend;

Yesterday after church, Session met and had a lively discussion about what to do in light of the COVID-19/Coronavirus situation. After thoughtful deliberation, Session decided unanimously to suspend all Church-related activities and meetings until Sunday, April 5 (Palm Sunday). Session will reevaluate the situation in late March or early April and decide at that time whether to continue the suspension.

In making this difficult decision, Session followed the recommendations of the Winnebago Presbytery, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and other authoritative sources, as well as its own collective sense of what is best for our congregation at this time.

We have also asked the Pantry Board to meet and makes its own decision regarding whether to cancel the next scheduled distribution day, currently set for March 24.

In taking this action, Session is mindful that this leaves a spiritual vacuum in our lives. To help fill that void, we have taken the following steps:
Our friends at First United Presbyterian Church have begun conducting a “virtual” church service online, and will continue to do so for at least the next two Sundays. You can view the service in one of three ways:

  1. For best quality, any time, go to First United’s website sermon page;
  2. To listen live on Sunday mornings, go to the First United Presbyterian Facebook page beginning 9:45 AM Sunday morning, and follow the worship service “live” (click "Follow");
  3. You can also follow the link(s) we will put on our website.

Many thanks to Pastors Luke and Meggan and to the First United Church family for sharing this blessing with us.
We are also acquiring a resource called “Taking Faith Home”, which we will use to send our congregation devotional and other materials for use in your homes. We hope to begin electronic and mail distribution of these materials very soon.

We trust that you understand why we have taken these steps, and ask for your prayers and support, and of course for prayers that this pandemic comes to an end soon.

We will keep you promptly advised of any future developments. If you have any questions, please contact the Church office or any member of Session.

Thank you, and God Bless,

Session
